Wearing your motorcycle gear in the office

I work an outpatient medical office reception job so I’ll leave on my moto shoes (shoes not boots) and armored jeans or khakis and not look out of place. I like gear that doesn’t look like gear, I tend to buy stuff that I wouldn’t mind being stuck in all day if needed.

OP, I think they do that to ensure that everybody knows that they ride a motorcycle. :laughing

Exactly. It's like the guy who rides around with his AFM numbers still on the bike from the weekend. :rolleyes

I wear gear at work when we have offsites (that I can't BART to) where I don't have a place to stash my Roadcrafter.

I leave a couple of pairs of shoes at my desk, but I don't really have a problem wearing my Icon Patrol 2 commute boots all day.

I've considered buying EN13595 or EN17092 motorcycle jeans for fair weather commuting, and wearing them all day.

I have a spare fleece jacket that I leave at work. Outside of the jacket, the rest of my gear looks like everyday wear and feel nice enough to wear all day.

I don't do this but I've seen folks do it. Usually with unpadded leather jackets. They're wearing mostly non-motorcycle specific boots.

I bought an aerostich in addition to my other gear just for commuting to work. So easy to zip in and out. Works great for either wall street or a nudist colony.

I should mind my own business, but I've noticed this spring several coworkers walking around in their jackets and boots all day.

I think about my gear: stiff boots, waterproof jackets with armor inserts, and kevlar armored pants. I take it all off when I get into the office, and I usually leave it all in the bicycle room (I'm the only person here who rides bicycles and motorcycles).

I realize that much of their stuff is barely suitable for riding, light leather jackets, non riding boots and jeans. However, no one has asked my opinion on what they wear.

Mostly, I'm not jealous but I'm reminded how uncomfortable I find moto wear outside of riding.

Buy better gear that’s comfy?

I have a pair of TCX short boots that are way more comfortable for walking in than regular length moto boots. I bet I could wear them all day at work without comfort issues. And they're not so flashy to attract attention.

Real motorcycle gear is uncomfortable in the office IMHO. But to each his own. I certainly hate wearing even current office attire. I like jeans and a polo shirt

I thought about wearing my Helimot leathers with the Kenny Roberts graphics in the office.

On Halloween.

I keep a couple pairs of shoes at my desk and always hang up my jacket upon entry in the office.

My current office is smaller than a prison cell minus the toilet. I usually keep a fleece jacket, shoes and jeans at work, just in case but my current office is way to small.

If I had to dress business casual I would keep a garment bag at work and change. But I don't. At the high school, I am currently at, some of the teachers wear sweats, and not nice sweats, so it's a low bar.

only wore gear (i only ride in full leathers) once - to an offsite one hour business meeting. one of the dudes in attendance was so distracted by it he couldn’t concentrate on the meeting, and regardless of the otherwise important conversation, kept bringing up what i was wearing, and why. will never do it again.

Full leathers for commuting, 60-mile RT on 80. Work clothes/boots stashed at work for working. No one at the office gives a crap how I get there as long as I show up on time. In a business-casual environment a leather MC jacket is about as appropriate as bicycle tights.

In my last 2 "careers", I had graduated to ATGATT as far as riding gear went.

When I was GM at a Honda dealer, I had a company demo, but I still rode in a few days a month. I had a pretty big office, with a closet, my own bathroom, even, so I had a whole closet full of business suits etc. My admin asst always greeted me with "Good morning, Mr Power-Ranger"; my 'stich reminded her of the TV show, I guess.

anyway....
If you have to wear business attire, or look professional on the job, it ought to be pretty standard to have a stash of work clothing at your office or workspace, and a place to change. Dealing with helmet hair a whole other issue, though.

Not to drift off topic, but... YOU HAD YOUR OWN BATHROOM?

You can now return to your regular station. BARF sure rocks. Just sayin’...
