at my job, they don't do drug tests. (which is weird cause its a skilled labor job). so i took advantage, and started smoking weed again. not a lot (never really did a lot) but maybe 3-4 hits 3 times a week. and i was thinking today about other jobs i had that checked for drugs once a month. and i was thinking, i NEVER went to work high or buzzed (and i have no sympathy for those who do and get canned) so why care what i do recreationaly? if i had an employee who came to work everyday, was a good employee, then why would i care?

im not talking about hard drugs (which most drug tests dont test for), im talkin about weed, bud, ghanga, stank, reefer, mary jane, dank, blueberry yumm yumm. why care if someone at home smokes some, gets high at home, and comes in work sober and ready to go? does anyone else here smoke/work? if so how much? why do YOU think its ok to smoke on your off time? discuss

edit, i was NOT high at the time of this publiction

I don't really see the difference between you smoking a little and you drinking a little... but I don't smoke much because I'm not much of a fan of weed.

smoke enough weed off the clock, eventually it will effect your job performance while on the clock
drink enough alcohol off the clock, eventually it will effect your job performance while on the clock

i used to. learned my lesson.
GPA went from a
~2.5 - being stoned at work
to
3.85 - sober!!!!!

going to finish up school sober :thumbup

man weed just seems to have that buildup effect that kinda slows me down, but to each his own. Before I got hired at my current job they basically said they dont give a fuck what I do on my off time

Generally speaking, I don't need any help with being dumb. If there was something I could smoke that would make me smarter, then I'd be 100% in.

Disclaimer: my job requires focused brain efforts. I was also not on the pot at the time of publiction.

For me, i know that the sticky buds affected my memory and vocabulary. It's kinda odd when I am at work trying to think of a word I want to use and have to turn to a colleague and ask "What is a 5 letter word that starts with E? You know it's like an electronic letter you send to someone."

So yeah, after you get a certain stage in your career, you realize it's kinda more important to have these things than it is to relax at home with an altered state-of-mind.

The other way to look at it, is how many things in your life will be restricted if you fail a drug test? If there aren't any, maybe you should expand your life. ;)

I'm calling the fucking cops!@

You sound like an ex-GF of mine. "I occasionally smoke." = high several times a week.

"Not a lot" to a non-smoker would be every other month, not every other day. :laughing

My only comment would be this: you know smoking is illegal and you've decided this law does not apply to you. This lends to your morals. If you don't think this law applies to you the maybe you won't think other laws and rules apply to you such as stealing from your employer. showing up on time and returning from lunch on time. Showing respect for coworkers and your employer. And so on....

Just playing devils advo here BTW. Not making any judgements on you. Just say those are judgements the employers might make of you.

And I agree 100% !!

While I'm a huge pothead away from work, I really try not to smoke while at work, once in great while if my workload is a short stack. I dont want to give my boss any more reason to hate me so I do what I do and I do it well between 830 & 5, after that, its my life and I'll do what I want !! :smoking

:teeth

My cousin is a big pot head, and to him "occasionally" smoking is at the most once a day, he gets high anywhere from 3-6 times a day everyday for the past 5 years. I can really tell a difference in his speech, he has a hard time thinking of words to say and often blanks out during a conversation.

Lucky for me I only smoked rarely, which was around 3 times a year. I stopped because weed always gave me bad side effects such as nausea and increased heart rate.
