Weight Is the Enemy

and I haven't been able to shed any lbs at this point and I understand why.

It's cause I eat too much!

I’d prescribe a strict diet of celery and Adams crunchy peanut butter.

I lost a lot of weight a while ago and can't seem to gain it back. Stuck on the low side of 150 for a couple years now no matter how much I eat.

Kurt did it right: dump the useless weight. Building muscle is adding useful weight!

i feel you Kurt, been there, done that - the world of bikes has a new meaning now ! Congrats on this uneasy accomplishment 👍

I lost approximately 60 lbs when I had my stroke. But I don’t recommend it.

Yeah....that's kinda doing it the hard way.
I, for one, am happy to see you're still here.....posting and spicey!!!

Thank you. Even though I haven’t ridden for a number of years, I still have a passion for motorcycles. I guess that’s also why I became involved with the NMP. And four of my five brothers have ridden as well, with two also heavily involved with the NMP. And another brother who lives in Colorado was involved with a turn workers organization out there.

I blame it all on my father and his Cushman motor scooter.

Diet solely doesn't build muscle Marcus. Kurt's increased mobility is awesome!

Keep an eye on the classifieds. A lot of my gear no longer fits.

A little update from this past week. When I started this program at the end of November, KP put me on this body composition machine that tells you a bunch of stuff, including fat %, muscle %, etc., and a projection for how much weight I could expect to lose. It projected 20#'s. The program apparently agreed with me. This past week for the first time I was back on the machine, and not only did I lose 50#'s, it suggested that I needed to regain about 4#'s!

Now that I'm much lighter, I'm thinking the next bike will be a SuMo.

That's great, Kurt. Just think about walking around carrying a 45lb plate all the time, and how much easier it is now to move. I am down 35lbs and love the feeling! :ride

(I am picking up a 250 dual sport in a week or so, hint hint)

That's huge! no pun intended, well maybe.

Now the trick is to stay the course. Such good news.
The cool thing is that the program continues with all sort of coaching on diet and exercise. I just restarted eating some real food last week, and it's clear that the program is designed to break old habits and build new ones, with the idea being to preserve the successes.

Sounds a lot like what we do when we help treat people with addiction.
CBT says it best: Change the way you think, and you'll change the way you behave.
