What Are You Thinking Of Right Now?

Would our tax burden be less if we were married?

i suggest you have a cpa look at your situation and crunch the numbers both ways. if you are both seniors with good retirement income irmaa for medicare premiums and taxable social security benefits can come into play. i had a retired client get married to another retiree and they ended up paying more in taxes.

if you are married and one passes, the other may be able to get the deceased spouse's social security. probably not the case if you're not married. another consideration

I can't see how getting married could possibly reduce taxes.

A friend, married 41 years, her husband passed away and she does not get his SS benefits, but of course she's still working. Said she wont get them when she retires anyway. ?

Another friend, his wife divorced him after 15 years. They had kids. He married 3 more times and is still married. His first wife passed away a few years ago and he gets her SS... ?

It often reduces taxes when one person works and the other does not or does not make as much. However, with two high incomes, it may be a different story.

I get good feedback from people regarding their local Social Security office. I would hope that your friend visited their local office and had them make the determination whether or not they qualify for benefits.

For anyone who is old enough but not receiving social security benefits because they were public employees, a law signed a year ago allows for retired public pensioners to claim the credits they paid in before going into public service.

I am thinking that I will stay strong this weekend and maintain my diet, even though it involves a wedding and a trip to Disneyland with four kids 6 and under :loco

I'm thinking ctwo may not need that big boy gear I have for him if he keeps it up.
I'm also thinking, as of today I'm also smaller than I was aa week ago 🎉

It is getting harder and going slower, that's for sure. I'm hoping only 20 more pounds. I've gone back to a regular diet to make sure I stabilize. Remember, my GF said she doesn't want no skinny man. I'm now hitting the weights.

I'm thinking of spring cleaning, loud music, and wondering if I can fit back into my climbing harness

I am currently receiving my late wife’s SS because it is more. She was a brilliant woman and a lawyer who did our taxes too. She worked out every scenario for the taxes.
We actually divorced for five years to reduce taxes. Then we remarried when advantageous. It was pretty funny, and really easy.
We’ll run the numbers for Elfin and me…

I was thinking about this post on my commute home. So thinking about what am thinking.

Part of that is how blessed I have been. Parents, work life, motorcycle shit. I am a lucky man.

I am thinking that I want to share the luck with others in ‘26 and we should call that luck love.

You are my first lucky people.

Love ya’ll and wish the best in Life for each of you.

I have also been thinking of how lucky I've been. In all the years I was working, I never wanted to out to bars after work or get together with coworkers on the weekends... all I ever wanted was to get home to my wife! :love

Oh yeah... and the kids. :laughing

I, too, have been really fortunate in my life. And I loved my wife very much and woke up every morning feeling very lucky. Unfortunately she died too soon from Alzheimer’s and now I’m alone.

it’s heartbreaking to think of what you went through, and that you lost her too soon. but you were there for her, by her side every step of the way. it speaks volumes for the love you shared. that sort of love is eternal. you’re a blessed man. and she was a blessed woman to share that love with you.
