What do you think about John Bunnell?

I just read IMDb's synopsis of Broderick Crawford's career. His Highway Patrol character apparently made Americans conscious of the police term "10-4."

(And interestingly enough, police codes are based on citizens' band radio codes.)

So Ray, did you grow up in the Bay Area? Did you watch "The Lineup" too?

So what's a 10-69er then?

(I think APCO standardized the codes in 1974, but IL state police first used them in the 1930/40s. When CB was "new" they used ham radio Q codes- so QRT!:laughing)

I'm gonna make like a Messican and just say, No se, amigo.

'Cuz Phil Konstantin doesn't have it on his page. :mad

And I think it's one of your jokes, you feckin'knowitall!
:laughing

Grow up? That's something I should get around to doing, I suppose... :ride
Don't recall "The Lineup", but if it was on when Mom and Dad watched something else, I didn't watch it...:x

When they, Real Stories, were filiming in San Jose some years ago, my friend got stopped and filmed. I couldn't stop laughing.... he was speeding in his mothers BMW in is Boy Scout uniform... That was a good episode.

Anyone remember "Real Stories of The Highway Patrol". :| I heard they were filming and stayed the hell away. :laughing

Most COPS episodes were used as NO-NO examples for me at the academy. Departments that allow COPS to film them should be all ashamed

My one observation of that show is that, other than west coast cops, Florida was the only other state that's heard of the concept "Officer Safety". :|

Just out of curiosity, do you recall how many of the "no-no" examples were from CA agencies?

I can only recall one, it was LAPD. The cop was driving on the wrong side of the road crying to catch up to a stolen car. Almost hit another patrol car and when he did catch up to the suspects car (they hit a wall), the officer got out of the car with his shotgun, put is foot up against the driver side door of the suspects car, and when they got the suspect out of the car he was covering an officer who was doing the hand cuffing, he looks away to talk to another officer and points the barrel of the shotgun at the back of the head of the officer doing the cuffing. Thats the best to my recollection.

I know all the chiefs in Santa Clara county had a meeting and agreed to not let COPS film in SCC so thats a relief.

FYI I dont work in SCC LOL
