What Dunlop tires are best for 600 Production?

I say stick with the 190 211 GP. Its perfect on the 5.5" rim. Or run the 180/60 Pirelli. That tire is awesome too but won't last as long as the 211's. The Stones? Well, I dunno! They sound OK but allow for some front end set up time. Good luck with whatever you ride on.

Thanks Neil,

The Pirelli rear tears too easy. I had a tank of gas that lasted longer than the SC3 rear at Miller a few weeks ago. The Pro Slick rear lasted amazingly long, but not enough traction for a sprint race. I'm sure it would have made the whole 6 hour enduro had our bike not broken down.

As for Dunlops, with the price difference I have to at least try the Bridgestones. Especially with the deals Viets has. I like the feel of the 180 better too which is part of the motivation.

Tearing might be a suspension/setup issue, I've got a SC1 on the rear of my 400, did a bunch of laps at Thill recently with absolutely no tearing, Miller is much easier on tires than Thill. I used to tear an SC1 and had to run a harder tire until I changed out the linkage on the rear. Now it's nice and smooth. :)

Red honda?

really?? how many times you beat Lenny when he was on one Tim?? :twofinger:twofinger

*im fxkking with ya tim ;)

I know you are, he has beaten me plenty of times, the guy is crazy fast, and I hold back because I am a old timer now. I tried the Dunlop AMA spec tire and I hated it, I never had the confidence as I did with the UK stuff. I never really played around with the preasures that much, I just ran what Terry told me to run, and the rear tire got tore up in 2 sessions. I mind fucked myself and thought my bike was off in the handling department somewhere. And like you said, not going to pay $500.00 for a set of tires.

sorry TWF i corrected the berto dunlop...brain fart..as Ulrich said "i blame the mutiple concusions" :)

Timmer what AMA spec did you try?? I know Barry has told me they have changed them a lot the last 2 years and the newest form even according to Lenny is REALLY good! If i get a chance im going to try them. I kinda wanna try R10 just cause i have only ridden dunlops for nearly 15 years...but then again i like supporting my buddy barry and again everyone i know that RECENTLY (as in last month even) that has ridden the AMA spec raves about it. Hell at my pace Barry could spoon on some Roadsmart ST tires and i'd go the same pace :)

I just did 53-54s at Thill on the new AMA spec Dunlops and they worked great...

Ya, but we're grading on a curve. You have to add a second for every championship you've won. Either that or you have to stop your bike at the top of turn five, do that thing where you lean over and put your forhead on a wiffle ball bat, spin around it for 15 seconds, and then finish the lap.

yep, again i cant believe how much they have come/changed....even a year ago the tire was SO different. Last weekend Lenny and I talked about them and he really drove it home to me (a HUGE die hard Ntech only guy) that the AMA spec has really really come a long way. I know Barry of KFG has them really dialed in up here, if you cali guys would try them...i think you too might believe..plus they are only what? $369/set??? damn it now Ken has me wanting to try them...after all i do 53-54's too..

*2:53-2:54's

I kinda want to try to Bstones now too..
the dunlop spec tires work good for me, but not like i'm really pushing the tire :dunno

Hard to beat the wear on the GP 211's. The GPA 211's are less money but wont last as long. The way i see it is I get 2 more track days out of a rear GP 211 it covers the differenece in cost. After 2-3 races on a GP211 i still will use it for 2-4 track days. Then it can be used for a street guy for a while.
Just my 2 cents. I have a lot of time on the GP211 and still run them.

Clive,

you should really talk to Viets and try the new Bridgestone R10s... I think Timmer is givin em a shot too. I got em workin pretty good now, 53's last weekend at T-Hill on em;)

Plus Viets is hands down best rider support as you know... Good luck bro...

Hollis

+1
