Topped-out inline 4's sound sweet...at the track. On the street with's revving out their crap-tastic TBR-equipped R6's, not so much.
V-twins with a booming (but not too loud) exhaust note give me a woody.![]()
2 stroke single, check
2 stroke twin, check
2 stroke triple, check
4 stroke single, check
4 stroke twin, v-twin, boxer twin, check, check and check
4 stroke triple, nope
4 stroke four, check
Guess what, they are all good.

FUCKIN-A BUBBAI'm finding myself riding my favorite backroads on my Duc as I did on either my GSXR or my CBR. Thing is, I'm more relaxed...don't have to stir the shifter, I basically just leave it in one gear and roll on the throttle. There's so much engine braking I can essentially close the throttle and slow down sufficiently without having to touch the brakes.
No I4's in the 8's? There are stock bikes in the high 8's with the right rider. Plenty of street bikes in the 7's.![]()
Motorcycles are like girls.
Motorcycles are like girls.
Something something naked twins?
I4's whine.

Nonsense unless they've messed with ride heights and other drag racing tricks that render a bike useless on the street.
Ricky Gadsen got 10.05 with the latest ZX10 before he had to replace the clutch.
With a new clutch he go 9.93.

With changed intake, sprockets, ride height, shocks etc. they got 9.40.
FUCKIN-A BUBBA
Wider torque RPM range+high engine braking=Less shit to think about when riding, allowing you to devote more attention to other things.
For those of you who doubt the difference in torque, just look at the comparison of the 2012 superbikes. The twins' superiority in torque is one of the main reasons I bought the KTM.

I started riding on I4s and eventually graduated to a literbike. I always had a shit ton of fun, but didn't start to really LOVE riding till I got my RC51. I found that a low end grunt turns my crank much more pleasingly than a high end buzz. It just has a much calmer vibe to me.
FJR = 99.1 lbs/ft @ 7000 rpm from Wikipedia
FJR = 102.1 lbs/ft new 2013 as tested by MCN in the UK
FJR = 91.2 @ 7100 rpm most recent dyno test from Rider
...and it's just a detuned "sport touring" engine.

Lets test the waters with this one just for fun. Besides I don't know how to link it.
And with regards to gravity, I have spent some time trying to figure out just where the physics do work in this situation. Gravity vs Braking vs Youth? In any event I think we can say it's all good.
2013 FJR weight=639 lbs.
Have fun with that pig.
Hang with me sometime for a 10 day ride on any of those bikes you charted.

I ain't got that much vacation time...how 'bout you come out to T-hill on the 9th and teach this noob how to ride?
Yeah, on a long lonesome highway, the Budman blew by me on hiz Multi. Figured I'd just reel him in like any other silly little twin; butt nope, he just motored away.Actually, the FJR is geared pretty tall
...and regarding that roll on challenge with a new MultiStrada.... well, uh, I was actually hoping Multi owners might not respond. No deal, Ducati has a nice bike in that one.

Dunno wut a top gear roll on would be like, butt I duz know them ducs got sum legs.
