It's official, I am turning into a curmudgeon! I keep getting all chaffed when I see youngsters more and more misusing the word "braap!"

BRAAP comes from the noise the two stroke engine produces.
That's it, its a 2T thing B-R-A-A-P!!!
Four strokes go "Vroom!"
Going braaping means you are going to go rip some single track or mix some oil....shred some snow...

and get the f**k off my lawn!

I concede, 4T singles go braap too. :x

I never associated it with a stroke.. just a sudden open throttle.

:dunno

There is a lot of BRAAAP in Supercross... maybe a bit more BRAAAAWWP..! :laughing

Sorry, to me braap is the sound a four stroke single makes when it has a pipe. The guttural deep fart noise.

A 2t is a ring a ding sound.

Let the battle continue.

wingdingdingding

Ring a ding ding - the sound of a properly tuned 2T with crisp exhaust note.

Braaap - the sound of a properly tuned 4T single with crisp exhaust note.

I actually kind of agree with that but can we limmit braap to singles?
I mean c'mon a parallel twin doesn't go braap and it comes from a kinda long stroke over square geometry. No I4 should ever go "BRAAP!" They go "whhhhhhhhheeeeeeezee-pop pop pop weeeeeeeeeze-popopop"

According to this Braaap got started by dirt bikers in the 2 stroke era... :afm199

BRAAAPP!!! Does not apply to any multi-cylinder bike.

Go listen to MX, that's where the brapping happens.

2 stroke singles go BweeeEEEEEEE!!

This is what I'm getting at!!!!

I think I have it wrong about the 2T thing but for sure "braap" is a singles thing :x

Braap on the face of a jump/. \ or the back side, MX originated.

OG's know that very old 2 strokes went braaap. My '72 CZ 250 did.. those throaty low pipes sounded different that modern 2 smokes.

Maico's braaapped too. :teeth

I guess Ring-a-ding-ding is definately a 2T chainsaw leaf blower sound but those old Huskies of yesteryear went BraaP!!

I do think a big bore 4T single braaps but there is now way you're going to tell me my TTR125 or CRF230 go braap. They make vroom vroom sounds.

I could've sworn it was the sound Drogon wings make when gliding over King's Landing. :dunno

A loud pipe makes small thumpers sound brappy(er) Seriously, and annoyingly.

Stock pipes on anything kills the brapp.
