What is tearing up my shoe?

Or you could wear real motorcycle boots
You know, ones that will actually protect your kankles in a wicked highside when your TC fails.

I have them. Not necessary or wanted for daily commuting. And I have crashed in this same make of shoe before and it protected my foot and ankle greatly. They are no joke.

You are kidding yourself. Those shoes did not protect your ankle. You just happened to have a crash in which there was no significant force/impact applied to that area. I know that some folks need to learn things the hard way, though. :dunno

There's CE rated armor in the ankle dude...

Yes, but the boot is not nearly high enough to protect you properly. Additionally, there is no resistance to twisting or bending at that point. That armor is great for impact, but doesn't help much against bending/twisting. No worries, man. I wore shit gear when I was a kid, too. You can wear whatever you would like, but just be honest with yourself about the level of protection it provides.

For me; the $160 shoes are good enough for the street, and very comfortable to shift and ride in. I don't expect them to save me in a crazy high speed crash though

This is because I like you Andrew...

These are your shoes

And this was the fifth review down...

I was cut off by a SUV going across my lane to turn into a street and my left leg was caught between my bike (04 Kawasaki Z1000) and the vehicle when I hit him doing 40 mph. I fractured a small bone in my foot as well as the tip of my tibia along with a bruised shoulder.
In conclusion these shoes will not protect your foot if impacted or crushed
between two objects but will if you have a minor slide at low to medium speeds.

So, what would have happened if your foot got caught between the car and your bike when you had your accident and you were wearing these shoes?

I wear SMX 6's, something similar is this and is only $50 more than your shoes

I lowsided in my work parking lot and my foot was caught under the bike and dragged for a bit. I can take pictures of the scuffs on my gear but I was unscathed. Ego hurt but that was it :p

Ouch...

The best protection in the world doesn't do shit at home in the closet.

It was off revzilla's page lol.

So were mine, right click the smaller picture and 'copy image address'

You've been riding for a year and constantly disregard information from those who have a lot more experience than you. People aren't saying those POS shoes are useless just for fun or to offend you. It's because no one wants to see someone get hurt.

If you understand they offer shit protection, then so be it. But you're a fool if you think they're actual riding footware.

I stash a extra pair of shoes in my file cabinet and switch em up when I get to work. Would not want to ride in anything else but full boots. Had a mountain bike accident that caused me to be on crutches for 6 months. F**K That.
