What is the safest way to park on a hill?

I reverse backwards down the driveway all the time.

And once I've parked, I usually lean on the tail of the bike and push down to see how balanced it is. If a tiny push starts to tilt it past the point where it's gonna keel over, I adjust it and try again. Keep in mind that once you've climbed off the bike, it will rise a bit and tilt more downhill than it did while you were sitting on it, so it's good to doublecheck after dismounting.

At least the city actually seems to have the sense to mostly put moto parking on the uphill side of streets. I hate parking on the downhill side. Hate it, hate it.

Pay lots of attention to what is and could be parked uphill of your bike. Whenever possible park so that no vehicle could back into your bike. In SF I prefer to park in small spaces a car can't use. Second is to park in front of the line of cars, never in the middle or behind. I've had to pick up most of my motorcycles from somebody backing over them. Now I try to make the cagers work for it. :twofinger

If its all steep and no level spots to turn around. Consider backing down entire hill in reverse. Its surest no tip over method.
Engine off can use both front brakes and clutch as a brake.
