Because I am hanging with high school buds and I told them barfers rock and could tell me what it is within 5 minutes.

I am thinking 1986 fz 750. Feels small but I don't remember these graphics on. 600.

Let the clock begin

From the exposed timing cover it's a 600. It's not an '86, which was an FZ, not an FZR, and had a steel frame made of square-section tubing, not a Deltabox. Can't help on the year, but Wikipedia says the FZR600 was made 1989-1999.

Thanks DD. great start.

I doesn't have the airtubes on the the faux tank so it can't be a 750 or a 600. I would say it is a 87-88 Yami FZR400.

Having him text his bro.

:wtf is it bro.

I vote for the 400

Yamaha didn't sell the 400 stateside until 1988. Before that the only sporting 600 they had was the air-cooled FZ600; had one of the latter and got my first speeding ticket on it. :thumbup

88 or 89 FZR400. I think 90 and up had four piston front calipers.
I owned one for a while...super cool bike. I sold it to a friend of mine that had a totaled FZR600. He subsequently twisted my arm into helping him stick the 600 engine into the 400. The motor bolted in fine, just had to make up some custom headers and relocate some electronics. Cool mod, since the 600 had a steel frame, and the 400 had aluminum. Prolly saved 15-20lbs, and a blingier frame.

Looks exactly like the 1989 FZR400 I have in my garage. :p

FZR400.

Look for Sportbike magazine cover circa 1987 with Eddie Lawson doing a wheelie on one. Couldn't find it but I did find these:
