What is this new Kawk 1000?

Kinda like the "new" exhaust can on the K5 when it first came out. Lots of folks despised it, hated it even. It actually kind of grew on me, so I never did replace it. Being a full titatium, I left as-is.

I think most manufacturers expect owners will put a slip-on on anyways, so they just get the stock exhaust to get past ever stringent noise and emissions requirements. While at the same time, not trying to make it so hideous.

us KAW ZRX/Z1000 fans been after them to re-release the "DAEG" (other markets ZRX1200) here in the states. But oh we can't do that, "standards don't sell in the USA." (Likely true.)

So this is what they came up with; e-yuck'o. Everything but the plastic & styling looks good; if only they had packaged it in a more ZRX standard-style looking package. But oh, it must look like a sport bike even though it's a standard....duh.

Early reports are the bike is really good: power, handling, comfort, etc. It just looks like shit...(sigh)...

I think it looks great. :thumbup

It's exactly what a lot of people look for in a reasonable streetbike.

actually, this bike is making plenty of waves with the VFR guys.

they've been complaining that they want a 500 lb. bike with about 120-130 hp, larger fuel capacity, adjustable windscreen...heavy on sporty, but relaxed ergo's....

And hard saddlebag options.

A lot of them are taking a serious look at this bike, and pretty much the only real complaint they have is that it's not the favored V-4. Other than that, this appear to be EXACTLY what they've been dreaming of.

the exhaust? yeah, it's way butt ugly! but at least it looks to be a very easy fix

I have to admit, I'm looking at them seriously too. this bike comes in about 180lbs. less than mine.

OK. Seriously. One word:

WHAT exhaust?

Yeah, I know it's not one word. It's for emphasis. I have personally ridden the bike AND I didn't even see the exhaust. Never occurred to me that is something that bothers me. I did hit it with my boot while riding with 65 mph though. I looked down and I saw the black exhaust.
Yesterday when I posted, I didn't see it either. Just right now I went back to the picture on page one.. .. and saw the exhaust.. which blends in. End of story

oh and comparisons with all metal bikes e.g. ZRX1200 are pointless, I think.. why not compare it with a Nighthawk 750 then. That one is also metallic and cool :dunno

on the weight.. WTFCares? I have not ridden a ZX-10. To me, this Ninja 1000 rides very similarly to a Ninja 650 actually.. I consider this a very nice thing. Easy to ride. I did not feel that this Ninja 1000 is overly heavy.
Just as the ninja 650 however, the space to the pegs is more for shorter guys perhaps. Also if your boots are large, plan on kicking the toes of the passenger, if not using the passenger peg outright..

That's the first thing I thought. It's a Kawi-VFR.

I think the exhausts are pretty cool looking - I don't absolutely love them, but they're not awful like some people say - I think some motorcyclists are traditionalists and just don't like anything too radical or new.

Predictably, my 60 year old, Harley-riding buddy thinks my 2010 Z1000 looks terrible - he doesnt like it at all - well of course he doesn't, he goes for the chrome and spokes look...

My ZRX Hooligan Brutha! True......Would like too take one around a block or two though.

I have hellaphun on my Bandit 1250, with it's bags, the top box, and even with my heavy phatass on it! I go canyon carving, goat trailing, and back-road boogie'ing on it. It seems to do quite well thank you......

I sat on the new Kwakker 1000 with it's full fairing, adjustable windshield, inverted tubes, and black geometric/angular/Tranformer'ish mufflers..... The very cool black & red Kamisaki was narrow to sit on, pretty comfortable favoring 'sporty', and it felt an honest 75 pounds lighter than my old fashion Bandit.

I'll be honest, the bike was easily one of the most handsome UJMs I've seen in a long time. Add some color matched two-tone hard bags on the back, then go out and have some fun on something other than a boring looking FJR, Connie', or BMW.

They are not pointless to anyone who rode before the early/mid-eighties when "sportbikes" 1st appeared. Before that everything was a "UJM" (universal Japanese motorcycle), & they looked damn good TYVM.

The Bandit's, FZ1's, Monster's, BMW's, etc. still sell well here, so there IS a market for them w/the older among us. Not everyone is happy w/plastic-shrouded bikes; so don't' assume everyone here is. We are entitled to our opinions too...:thumbup

what bugs me about it though, is that it is a faired version of the naked bike that we already have here. so if this is available it might enforce this idea that Americans don't/won't like the cool shit that is available in other markets.

I had a similar initial reaction, but actually its not just a faired version of the z1000, but has better (more upright) ergos and a bigger tank, so its functionally different.

Def. want one, but unfortunately we can't get that sexy green here in the us (that red is awful! maybe if they used the orange from the 11 650r)
