I love good documentaries. I am of course a huge fan of education and want to learn everything about everything. I love documentaries as sort of the, "infomercials," of the education world. For me, if I see a good documentary I can tell how much interest I have in a particular field of study and if it is interesting to me, follow up with reading some books, viewing/attending lectures, and sometimes taking college classes based on the subject at hand. I think they are a great gateway to educating yourself and have stumbled across a few purely by accident that have certainly helped expand my mind and education.

So I'm asking for more from like minded students of life on this plane of existence. What are your favorite documentaries? Are they about a band? About History? Engineering? Astrophysics? Philosophy? Architecture? Current events?

What did you watch that opened your mind and got you excited to think?

Men of the Tall Ships

Night James Brown saved Boston

Sons of Anarchy :thumbup

Both on Netflix

There's two of these...

I can watch this stuff all day long. Personally I like economics docs, and there's a bunch to see.

Me too, I tend to favor more academic films than typical Sports or Bands, but I will probably watch just about everything people bring up in here. I feel I should draw a clear line between a DOcumentray and Reality Television, which are nto the Same thing. While, "Long Way Round," might be some good moto watching madness about two bros on a journey, it is not really what I would call, "educational film."

P.S. I love that Dawkins, "Blind Watchmaker," was near the top of your link list...

Because I'm also in the documentary (for a few seconds). It was filmed after a press conference in San Francisco for the Silva vs Sonnen fight. :cool

P.S. I'm wearing a blue and white striped hoodie. :cool

Muscle Shoals is a great documentary I watched on Netflix

"Now Muscle Shoals has got the Swampers
And they've been known to pick a song or two" from Sweet Home Alabama.

Not great History, but super fun.
