No clue what is what, all I know is I want to open a beer with it without getting scratched.

Or one made of dinosaur bone. Or meteorite. :cool

O'Nick opens beer bottles with his. Kinda cool and freaks people out when they see it. Talk to him about it. Tungston Carbide :thumbup

I have a sterling silver ring with a squiggly sperm engraving I got in New Mexico. It's my 'married to myself ring.'
It's against the odds, but if it happens that I meet a gal who thinks like I do that we can live together into the future, I'll slice it in half, and she can wear her half on her thumb. If she's the gal I think she is, she'll think thats a dumb idea, but do it anyway.

I do the same with Ti. You can't do this with all rings. Gold and silver are too soft. Ceramic to brittle

I would think Ti might be a little soft for that as well, but apparently not. The tungsten one is basically indestructible. :D

Some of the ceramic rings are stunningly beautiful, but I'm pretty sure they would get scratched to hell within a few months on my hand.

Ceramic is harder than Ti. It's actually the 2nd hardest ring right behind Tungsten. Unless you bang your hand against Tungsten or Diamond, I'm pretty sure nothing will scratch High Tech ceramic.

A lot of people think of ceramic pots that are brittle like clay. Not the same as High Tech ceramic made for rings. I think it even has a nickname of "Ti Carbide".

Mine is titanium with a platinum inlay. If I was doing it again I'd skip the platinum and either use silver or no inlay.

Mine is titanium, but I do have a plain silver band that I wear when riding my dirt bike or doing anything else which might result in a hand injury. I would rather not lose a finger due to the fact that they can't readily snip/cut off my ring. :laughing

:laughing I ain't scared.

Titanium rings are perfectly safe to wear: even if a finger bearing one becomes swollen or otherwise injured, removal of the circlet can be accomplished using equipment such as a jeweler's saw or a dental saw. Contrary to rumor, fingers so trapped do not need to be amputated, smashed, or otherwise further injured to effect rescue from the encircling ring. (Interestingly, a number of those who reported encountering the rumor about titanium-encircled fingers needing to be amputated say they heard this claim from jewelers who were trying to warn them off from purchasing such bijoux and perhaps were trying to steer them towards more expensive items.)
