What kind of gear do you wear when you ride?

Areostitch darian
Arai vector
Daytona boots

Just replaced my textiles with new stuff from Road Rider. Had Motoboss pants and Frank Thomas jacket. Got Joe Rocket 2011 matching pants and jacket now! Super price....over pants with rain/wind liner 170....jacket with liner and wind protection for "the girls" 140. Both are waterproof and awesome wind protection and all within budget!

I have a mixed set of gear, not all the most expensive, but something is better than nothing.

Helmet: Shoei RF-1100 and Scorpion EXO-700
Jacket: Scorpion Stinger, Scorpion All-in-one
Gloves: Joe Rocket GP Plus, Street and Steel weatherproof
Pants: Cortech/Tourmaster Weatherproof Overpants, Bilt Trackstar leather pants (trying them out because of the price).
Boots: AXO Primato, Tourmaster Solution Waterproof

I'm like Nonsequitur: mixed set of gear, not very expensive, but something is better than nothin

Helmet: Shoei
Jacket: Tourmaster
Gloves: Bilt (best fit I could find for now)
Pants: A* Short leather pants (something that fit ok off the rack)
Boots: Bilt 'raceboots' (no laces)

and so for now i'm saving for better fit/ better quality and riding with the most gear I've ever had.

I'm trying to figure out what kinds of pants to wear when riding.. I really really do not like leather pants.. They are just really lame and ugly in my opinion..

Would textile pants ALWAYS be worn over jeans or other pants? For example these two pieces:

http://www.kneedraggers.com/product/506259/Joe-Rocket-Phoenix-2.0-Mens-Textile-Pants

Those go over regular pants right?

Also, even though reinforced jeans have kevlar or something similar in the knees, it's not very shock absorbent, so knee pads are still advised, correct?

Also, is Motocross gear suitable for street bike gear? protective pants, knee/elbow guards etc.

The first pants are just offroad pants. No real protection against asphalt, designed for offroad riding and the low speed crashes you see there, and supplimented with other protective gear under them.

The second pair are overpants that would go over normal pants.

Knee pads are the best solution for knee protection because there is zero chance of them moving around, unlike textile knee guards which sometimes are looser than ideal to make them fit over pants.

Motocross gear is not suitable for asphalt use. The knee/elbow guards are fine, but the jersey, pants, and other stuff won't be very protective when you're dealing with asphalt rather than dirt.

I have the exact same Joe Rocket pants that I wear over my jeans. In fact, I think I even got them from KneeDraggers.

In any case, they work great and are the perfect length for me (5'6"). They have hip pads (more for impact) and knee pads that should sustain a decent slide if you happen to be so unfortunate. I know it won't protect as well as leather overpants, but it's comfortable, ventilated, and quick to put on. You can always buy aftermarket padding inserts...like T-Pro makes knee, elbow, and shoulder pads that should fit in most pants/jackets.

The pants have 2 sets of zippers that make it really handy for getting over boots or just for extra space/ventilation. I like them a lot and they're easy to disassemble to wash. Eventually, I'll get a more heavy-duty pair, but these work great for California weather.

Does anyone here have a bluetooth/FM radio helmet? I wonder how big of a distraction talking on the phone or listening to the radio would be while riding a bike..

Dagger HJC B/W helmet, Scorpion gloves, and Power Trip Vamp jacket. I am half a squid as I just wear blue jeans and my cowboy boots :laughing

I dunno but I got a sound system for my kawi for my birthday last year, it has to be less of a distraction then knowing everyone is hearing your playlist :laughing
