What the hell is going on in CoCo Courts? Time for a new Judge...

A quote from a fellow officer in the comments of the above article
Here is something that bugs me. Almost every jury trial for a DUI is because the defendant has prior convictions . It’s not their first rodeo. The sanctions for multiple convictions are pretty severe, which is why the defendant is having a jury trial. The jury is not allowed to know, in almost all cases, about prior convictions. That’s nonsense, in my opinion.

If true, that is unconscionable.

I have alcoholics in my family and disagree that it is a disease. An addiction, sure.
My personal definition of a disease is if you were left on an island with food, water, shelter and entertainment, would you still be “afflicted” six months later?

Reportedly the officer is doing much better. :thumbup John Muir is pretty good with trauma cases.

California at its finest..don't forget to thank prop 47.

Why isn’t there the political will to repeal Prop 47? With all the damage it’s causing society, why are we voters putting up with this shit?

:laughing

As a registered nurse, and a human, I find that hilarious. But my personal definition of hilarious and yours may differ, too.
