What's your single most prized material possession?

My mom's mom's dad bought a double barrel shot gun in 1906. He gave it to my mom's dad decades ago. When Grandad passed, he left it to me. When I go, it goes to my oldest daughter.

It is a beautiful firearm. Hand made, engraved, and carefully maintained over the years.
I hope for it to be passed down for many more generations.

It sucks being the second born. Old clothes, beat up regularly, and you get to watch all the cool shit go to the other sibling. My dad has a similar shotgun, it will go to my brother. As did my aunt's car, my dad's old truck, etc. I got a rock. Waaaaaaaaaaaa

I don't think I own anything with a sentimental value that's particularly high, nothing I own would bother should I lose it, for more than a few minutes

im attached to the idea of my things, the feeling of using those things... not the things themselves.

It's unfortunate, two of the guys I like the most on this site, I wouldn't be able to invite to a party. You have to be able to play stupid games to get along.

It's funny because I didn't know how I'd answer when I first saw the thread. I thought of my guitars, just because I have spent so many hours playing them and its brought me great joy. But I guess I went with sentiment, because I only have three things of my mom's and she's been dead for so long (1974).

My first reaction was to say my bike. But after thinking about it, I think I value maps more. Not any one particular map, just maps in general. Obviously, they're valuable because they facilitate travel and new experiences. But also because they sometimes offer the greatest value when they fail. Or maybe when we fail at them.

If it can't be a living thing, it would have to be our collection of family pictures. It would be the possession I'd most hate to lose.

the '62 Sunburst Strat I've had since I was 13. twas awhile ago...:laughing

Materially, out of everything I own it would hurt me most to lose my house. Everything else can be cheaply replaced.

The titanium plate and screws in my ankle.

All my other stuff can come and go. But that hardware is stuck with me for life. So I guess I'd better be happy with it.

I really, really like pretty much all of my stuff. I try not to buy things I don't need or won't derive significant enjoyment from, and if I don't I'm pretty good about divesting myself of it.

So... my Nikon, my car, my motorcycle, my road bike, my espresso machine - I love them all and I use them weekly if not daily. None of them are irreplaceable though.
