Well, I guess this would go in this section. I am thinking of building a wheelie machine. Now, when I say "build", obviously I mean paying someone else to build it FOR me and just running the thing myself. I have looked at a lot of sites for schematics and as I understand it, the back wheel usually runs on two drums. The bike is cooled with a fan or blower and the drums can run their own fan. The front end is tethered to the trailer and the bike is secured through the back tire.

My questions are: Do you think that a 2000 Kawasaki ZRX 1100 would be too heavy AND does anyone know where the schematics to something like that might be available?

I am thinking about using it to make some cash down here in Mazatlan and I know that there are no others down here.

ALSO, my own personal wheelies... I always wanted to be able to stunt but have been afraid to try on such a big bike. Should I be able to pull a wheelie in first gear in the powerband even with such a heavy bike?

Thanks!

Any bike will wheelie just fine in first gear. Especialy when strapped to a wheelie machine. I say go for it. Hell, it may even be worth taken a lil vacation down to Mexico to try it out. I always wanted to try one of those things.

Cool! Well, come on down! It is pretty cool because everyone comes out every friday night... and Mexicans are always partying, always a ton of people here at the beach. I think it would attract even non-motorcyclists. I am thinking it would be a hit... Hope to have it done before the World Expo Moto in Mexico City in July. Ten bucks for 5 minutes?

Dunno, still in the thinking process. Just being a female and riding down here attracts attention so I am thinking it could be a money maker. So, still looking for the schematics. If anyone knows that would be great.

Thanks

Yeah, I think it is going to be a great idea. I was thinking to write to the DynaTest people to get the exact measurements for the friction on the back tire. The thing is that here, most people can't afford a nice size bike and the ones that do have motorcycles use them for work and they are 125 to 250s so I think every young guy, old guy, etc. will want to do it. PLUS, they sell for about 17,000 over e-bay. It is a good export.

Should be fun!

Hey, there is a company that has what they call a "wheelie trainer" machine. It's basically a bike on top of a dyno with the rear axle bolted through a stand. The front of the bike sits on a trampoline and you're kept from going over backwards by a strap around the front wheel. They take it to fairs and bike shows and charge somewhere in the realm of $40-$50 for five minutes of "instruction." It works well for learning how body position and throttle input effect the attitude of the bike, but it's absolute crap for real world transition. I say that becuase the machine won't punish you for tugging on the bars, leaning off to one side, or anything else not related to purely throttle input.

Although, I have heard that it's fun to do.
