Just curious...because I've seen some gems.

And let's get this out of the way:

You Don't

:facepalm

I'm sure you folks will have some more.

Due to past problems, we've decided to not allow them on BARF.

I think he’s just asking in what thread to post them so he doesn’t get in trouble.

Can we get a concise definition of what a banned meme is? I do not find the TOS to be all that helpful here.

  1. Members shall not post images containing, nudity, partial nudity, sexual acts, or depiction thereof, questionable images should be linked and not directly visible in a thread. This link, and if possible the thread title, should carry a warning that such material may be offensive to some. The general application being NWS = "Not Work Safe". BARF is primarily an adult community, but there are younger Members, and a vast number of Visitors that may come to BARF through links and search engines.

  2. Graphic images depicting violence are discouraged, with the exception of those that serve an educational purpose in the motorcycling community. Those that satisfy the educational clause should be linked and not directly visible in a thread. This link, and if possible the thread title, should carry a warning that such material may be offensive to some.

  3. Images found to be in violation of Sections 4.7 and 4.8 will be handled in the following manner:
    1. Images depicting strong graphic or questionable ethical content will be converted to links. Those links will be labeled with a brief description of what is to be expected if the link is clicked.

    2. Images deemed entirely inappropriate (pornography, graphic violence) will be removed.

I know them when I see them. Every meme is banned, just put them on FB. Way to many Barfers get triggered by memes.

This in not the foundation of any fair and consistent policy I can think of.

We need a real test if we want to put this issue to bed. Let me offer my version of a means test for memes.

Does the post:

1. Consist of a single panel photo or photo shopped image?
2. Only contain txt overlayed on said image and no where else?
3. Offer no explanation of either the image or the text?
4. try to invoke a reaction without offering any information?

if all the above criteria are met, I would be ok defining a post as a meme.

I think we need a working definition. If anyone reading this has a better definition, please do chime in.

A meme that contains a political theme whether an idea, behavior, style, or piece of media—such as a humorous image, video, text, or soundbite.

Mike95060 Not good to edit a quote. See full quote above.

Every meme is banned. Budman gave us 2 if not 3 chances. We had a Political Meme thread with rules to behave. I love memes but I have to agree with Budman. I wish we could enjoy a good meme and move on if we don't agree, but that has never happened.

I just want a constant, concise definition of a meme* that I can work with. Your full quote doesn’t help me there. “I know it when I see it” is a recipe for strife. If you don’t want ambiguity, have test.

Political memes are banned. It’s not clear what you need a definition for, “political” or “meme.”

This has been true for a few years now, and mostly, people are staying in bounds.

"All memes are banned" is the policy. Barf members have been suspended for their reply to memes and memes have been posted that were baiting for some members. Budman gave memes more than a fair chance. I wish we could have them but we can't. This is your fourth post in this thread, it is time to move on.

You are not hearing me. Please define a meme.

Also, Who are you to tell me to stop posting?

Define a meme as opposed to a political cartoon.

We need a working definition of what a meme is.
