Here's a question for you "fashion" folks.

I walked into the office this morning and I hear the "Top" yell.

"Hey cupcake"

Naturally I turn around thinking he was addressing someone else.

He then proceeds to explain to me that wearing a white undershirt showing from a Polo is inappropriate for a man in my position.

To quote ver betim "Noone wants to see your fucking underwear. Take the damn undershirt off, button to the top, and or start wearing V Necks and or A shirts" "Blue Collar people do this, you will not!"

I had never heard this before nor has anyone ever pointed it out to me. Quite frequently I'll wear a full collar shirt and my undershirt will show slightly.

Now in our Class "C"'s or "B"'s I do know that we aren't "supposed" to do that, but I've never heard of it in civilian attire.

Have you folks ever heard of this?

(I need to add I'm not upset by this in any way shape or form. I always appreciate the wisdom that comes from this man. Just never heard of it)

thanks in advance.

I'd answer you, but it'd violate the terms of my man card.

wife beaters

Okay so I can assume then everyone else knew this but me? :laughing

It wouldn't shock me to hear that in the slightest.:laughing

It's not that bad, ABN. It is better then having your boxers show under your pants. :)

Depends on the level of politeness :laughing. No t shirts at society events. T shirts at the track.

:laughing,

Okay just for reference while some will know this I should have added an explanation.

"Top" is short for "Top of the food chain" or in other words E8 :laughing

So is cupcake your nickname?

hey cupcake, why you taking fashion advice from ol Top? If you aint wearin the monkey suit, then he aint got no say. capiche?

My apologies Sir,

Next time I will ensure I take advice from a Commissioned Gentleman just to show my undying sense of Propriety.

:)

Not a fashionista in any way, but I was always told if it's a short sleeve polo, no t-shirt; but if it's long sleeve, a t-shirt is ok.

I also do my best to match the color of my belt to my shoes, as they can be either brown or black...

I'd rather see a t-shirt instead of nappy chest hair...but I have no clue what is "appropriate."

I ALWAYS wear colared shirts with an undershirt. Sometimes I button my shirt all the way to the neck, but it depends on the situation. But fuck that I'll let my undershirt show...sometimes I dont wanna button to the neck...less comfy

start wearing your underwear OVER your pants to work...:cool

inside out with the stains showing, FTW...:banana

Wear v-necks and yes, button them up. Or if you really have to, start wearing black undershirts.

i always wondered why on earth people wore under shirts or wife beaters

Allows you to keep your shirts clean, keeps your back warm in cold weather, absorbs sweat, any number of reasons, really

wear deodorant instead of an undershirt.

Deodorant isn't the problem, it's antiperspirant. If you have axillary hyperhydrosis, you're fucked, it'll break down in 7 minutes.
