Who here moved down to LA from the Bay Area and HATES it?

Since I started riding track I have pretty much completely abandoned street riding. I was commuting to school on a bike, but now that I have a work van I don't even do that anymore. Come meet us out at Willow or Grange and get it out of your system there :D

A lot of truth here. Commuting EVERY DAY on a bike blows. I thought I was weak when I'd cage it every once in a while. People on average are worse than the Bay around LA but Fresno and other small towns in central California can be much worse. Orange County is cake.

Track days are the best. There's a lot of great roads around, but there's usually a helicopter or two paying visits to rescue bikers at each of the hot spots every weekend.

On the flip side, it never rains, gets cold, and there's a lot to do around here.

If you're in Glendale, the Crest is just a short ride up Hwy 2. The Crest goes on FOREVER. It's a nice ride and you end up in Hesperia or some such. Most people stop at Nukems and turn around and come back down.

When I lived near downtown LA, I'd either superslab it on the 10 out to Santa Monica and hop onto PCH and then on Topanga Canyon Blvd. then flit around the hills. Or I'd bomb down Wilshire or Pico until I ended up in Santa Monica and do the same. Tuna Canyon Rd used to be a fun, goaty road.

I would do day trips down to San Diego on Hwy 1 as far as I could go then jump on I-5 (boring, I know).

It's been awhile since I've lived in the LA area, so things may have changed. Beyond riding A-roads, there's a lot of adventure to be had. Shit, I road down Skid Row once. I used to like exploring by motorcycle a lot.

I'm from the South Peninsula born and raised. Now I'm in LA. I definitely miss the Bay Area but there are a lot of great places to go riding around here. Groink mentioned a few. I also think the drivers are in general a just a wee bit better than the BA but you still need to watch out as I've almost gotten ran over a few times by driver not looking.

What I miss the most is the area and the whole vibe. Someday I'll move back home.

Lived in sf ( in the city) 15 years and rode every road within 200 miles, lived in la 30 years and have have ridden everything from palomar , the crest to malibu twistys..their is good riding within 1/2 hour in both cities..quit being a cry baby..modofiedangle...please get your ass outa la..and stay outa sf too..your a piss poor reperesentative of the bay area riders. Bumping a two-year-old thread?

Priceless.

:laughing

Zombie thread. Must be on bath salts.

I think we can all agree at this point that there is good riding to be had in both areas. Everything else is a matter of taste and personal preference. Does that settle it?

:rofl

A battle over Big City Shitholes! This is classic!!

What you big city dwellers fail to realize is that both LA and the Bay Area are big shitholes with LOTS of shitty people. One shithole is laced with corn, the other Jalapeno Peppers. Choose your flavor. It's still all shit! :rofl

I was in Arroyo Grande all weekend. What a shit hole. Is anyone under 50 in that town? :rofl :twofinger

I don't know how you can live in he SF valley/glendale/pasadena and complain about lack of roads to ride!

It's amazing that anyone in California could complain about a lack of roads to ride. Year-round at that!

I moved from the South Bay to Victorville a few years ago and I think it sucks down here. Gotta go back to the Bay.
And since I just joined the thread bump doesn't bug me. :cool
