Needle-type torque wrenches are notoriously unstable, accidentally drop one on a hard surface even moderately and there go the settings. I've had a set of three Craftsman click-type wrenches for almost ten years and they're bulletproof. Besides, they have a lifetime warrenty!
No, they're not. I learned the hard way that there is some fine print in the warranty information on some craftsman tools (the ones prone to breakage, presumably) that limits them to 3 months or a year for warranty repair, contrary to popular opinion that Craftsman tools all have a lifetime warranty. Mine was broken when I loaned it to someone, and Sears was very quick to deny coverage, and when I opened a new one and looked at the paperwork, they weren't lying. Additionally, the repair charges were obscene. They charged me $69 plus shipping to repair a $99 torque wrench, and since I up buying a cheap $20 needle wrench for the meantime, the repair cost exceeded the repair cost.
That being said, I have no reason not to recommend the Craftsmen twist grip torque wrenches. Mine broke because I lonaed it to someone with no familiarity with torque wrenches, who promptly backed the torque setting all the way out, which will break any twist grip torque wrench. They are affordable and reliable, and should last years if used well and cared for.
Sears is having a Sale through today, so prices may be down. I KNOW that you can buy a 19.2V drill, shop light, and finishing saw combo for $139.00 or $99 for just the drill, cause I just bought the combo. Once again, Craftsman quality is nothing to be sniffed at, and that price is damn good. It comes with 2 batteries and a 1-hour charger. I can't claim to need a finishing saw (but you never know), but the 19.2V shop light will come in handy, and I used my old Makita on an almost daily basis for something or other (my bike-lift uses a power drill to rotate a jackshaft to lift the bike, and the battery drill, even my old 12V Makita does a great job of it).
The sale lasts through the rest of the day, as far as I know.
