I liked that you got off your bike but not the choice of words really. Glad you didn't get into anything over your head though.

Ha my only hesitation in posting the video was that exactly.. The video will come down.. I just wanted to share it with yall. I lost my shit one time and have it on camera. I know officers who have done a lot worse. But you guys are correct.

I had a Police Ethics professor, Chief McQuiston of the Albany PD, and he said to never post anything online you wouldn't want on the front page of the newspaper. I personally wouldnt mind.. But I can see why a department wouldn't be too stoked.

Looking at this on a pyschological level (which they very well might for an assessment) It's not just a question of the content of what you posted, or the information you're trying illustrate by posting it, but "why" you thought you needed too.

You said this was the ONLY time you ever lost your temper? Really? That would be extremely impressive :) But back to the original point; Why you posted it...

The trouble here is that someone could very easily surmise that you posted it not really to show what an ass the driver was, but to highlight your reaction and subsequent actions. That is, to illustrate what a badass you are by your willingness to escalate a confrontation, and perhaps a hidden need or attraction to a validation of violent behavior.

Now please understand, I am not saying this is what you were actually trying to do, or if you really have a need to prove to people some part of your personality or capability, You seem like a standup guy, but for someone who happens to find this video evidence, and is actually looking for worst case, it speaks to the exact opposite of the personality that a city would want for someone who will be carrying a gun in the name of peace and order.

EVEN if you had posted a video of you actually de-fusing a potential volatile or violent situation, an examiner would STILL question the motives of why you thought you had to make that public? ie, questions of self esteem, need for validation, publicity, willingness to be high profile etc.

I've been in the same situation on this very same board and so I know that someone doing a profile workup on you and making assumptions like that wouldn't be completely out of line, and that could hurt you in your chosen profession. :(

Thanks for laying that out from a different perspective. Yeah I should probably take it down. In fact I will.

The video was really to show what he did.. I guess I should have shown him inching up and nothing more.

On my way to work today I was stopped at a light when a silver Civic came barreling towards me at a light.. You can see in the video when I jump forward.. Unfortunately you can't see in my rearview. I figured he just wasn't paying attention.. But when I looked back he had a big stupid grin on his face. As I sat there he kept inching his car closer and closer to mine until the point when his bumper was an inch away from my tire. At that point I entered rage blackout mode and went off on him. I had my headphones in and I was so pissed I wasn't even thinking.. I could have been much more creative with my rage. :lol

Right after I was wishing I had kicked his bumper.. But after thinking more about it I think the best thing to do would have been to just keep rolling up and ignore the asshole.. But I did what I did.

Looking over my other footage I think I see where I may have pissed him off.. I can post it up later if you want but it's not exciting.. I passed him on the left in the slow lane on 580S.. I was in the lane to his left and went by him and then got in front of him with no signal.. My speedo (which reads like 6% too fast) indicated me at 82 MPH.. Yeah I could have been going slower and signaled, and looking back yeah I should have.. But did he have to react like that?

Thought I'd share.. Flame away.

If you really want to get into law enforcement, then you need to start making a lot more good decisions. Saying what you said, doing what you did, and posting it on the Internet shows a great deal of poor decision making skills. If hired as a Leo with your current mind set, you're a major danger to yourself and others.
