Will used pickup truck prices ever go down?

I have a Ranger like that, except it's 4.0L, extra cab, and fully loaded (as far as rangers go, lol).

There's no denying it's a huge piece of shit, similar to an old Tacoma actually. It's small, it's not comfortable, it's slow. Mine has a Japanese tranny and a German motor which is kinda cool I guess. It will not die. It's actually hilariously reliable.

Realistically, I'd expect to get probably $2K for it when selling it.

6 grand for a 4 cyl from '98 seems like Raep to me, even with the sexy low miles. .

Depends on what you want. I just sold a 99 that basically never needed a penny in upkeep, other than oil changes, and still was running like a champ.

You just defined a Ranger. Runs forever, never needs up keep, ugly, slow and uncomfortable.

As opposed to the POS $50k RAM pickup we bought that blew up at 90k.:laughing

I drove a 2009 Ranger 4L for a few years. They’re rated at around 210 hp which isn’t bad for such a small truck, I didn’t consider it slow. It was like a sports car compared to my 3.4L Tacoma. That was gutlessly slow.

So you never changed the plugs, timing change or performed any sort of tune-ups? :dunno

Of course I did. Plugs, wires, whatever minor shit was needed. Never did a timing belt, never needed one. Never had any problem that cost over $100 except for one clutch.

I gave up. Nothing good out there for 20K even on the used market. Wasn't up for spending that much money for something with close to 100k miles that needs maintenance anyway.

Ended up buying a fully loaded 2004 Nissan Titan with 190k miles for 4k. Terrible fuel economy, but I've had really good experiences with 2000/2010s Nissan trucks and SUVs. Have owned a similar age Xterra, Murano, and EX35 and none of them had any mechanical problems whatsoever. Am expecting the same here.
