Winter Olympics, Milano Cortina Italy start February 6th.

Norwegian cross country skiers score the highest O2 Max in the world. They are beasts!

Also, getting grip going uphill comes down to the wax you use, it has to be just right for the conditions. Also, I think that they've added scaling onto the bottom of cross country skies that glides in one direction and grips in the other.

Where did this guy get ALL of that GRIP, to run up that hill ?

Just what kind of snow velcro/textured base/ wax magic was in use ?
every step stuck, no back sliding, Pro Sno Stickum, works.

They have a Glide zone and Grip Zones on the skis, when you step down you force the ski onto the Grip Zone with your weight.
There are waxes for both. Highly temperature and snow dependent. Its an Art / Science.

Post 3rd surgery pic of Lindsay. I think she's done.

No surprise Norway dominates XC skiing. Isn't that just how everyone gets around in that grim, frostbitten hellscape? :laughing

So bummed to see that pic of Ms Vaughn. The external hardware crap speaks to the time it will take to heal. Sorry young lady. You are a warrior. :flag

This OG retired, but still found a moment to reflect and have some fun.

2 minutes of Shawn White riding the 1/2 pipe for fun.

Lindsay, sacred me, she was doing what guys do, double down with injuries.
I was worried that this might cripple her, in the attempt to compete, @ not quite 100%

Past Olympic stars seem to have unrestricted access to all venues of the Olympics,
or is it just Shawn?

Womans half pipe final was brutal.

Also you guys should check out snowboard cross if you're into BMX or motocross racing.

The announcer was so confident Choi was fighting for Bronze. Then boom, gold. I agree w the judges though that her run was better than Kim’s. Kim needed one more spin instead of that simple grab.

Agree about the announcers. I do think it was Kim’s to lose, though. She was quite gracious about it, and seemed really happy with her silver. She also gave Choi a very heartfelt congratulations afterwards. That was really nice to see.

The half-pipe event, and the women’s downhill skiing, were both total fall fests. Conditions looked pretty brutal for them.

Snowboard cross is always a fun event. It’s great to see an actual head-to-head race amongst the competitors instead of timed runs. Much more exciting! Nick Baumgartner, the 44-year-old American, was a breath of fresh air!

Dig the snow cross for sure. Head to head is fun and that does not happen in most of the skiing / snow board events.

This is fun. Hockey players getting chippy as they note it.

I like to see the women players rocking the fire too.

And did the French choose the French unfairly? It does not matter but interesting.

Not looking good for Lindsay. She is scheduled for a fourth surgery on her leg Saturday and could then possibly return home to the U.S., where she will require another procedure.

That French team has some fairly ugly background. They've only been together for 1 year because the dude Cizeron's previous partner left him because he was controlling and demanding and she no longer felt safe with him. She would only practice and train with him if there were another person in the building with them.
The woman, Fournier Beaudry, who used to skate for Canada, also lost her partner because he was banned for 6 years due to "Sexual Maltreatment." He basically raped another skater, and it is winding its way through the courts right now. Also, that guy is still Fournier Beaudry's boyfriend, and he is watching from the stands, even though he is a pariah in the skating world, and she is still defending him. I guess she had no reservations about skating with a guy who made his previous partner feel unsafe.

Cizeron's previous partner lost her job as a commentator for NBC after her thoughts on him became public. What were we just talking about again?

Ooooooo Canada cheated at curling against Sweden. The guy launching the stone poked the granite part with a finger after the line. The officials did nothing. The Canada guy got super defensive and told ppl to F off.

We gonna have good memes for years.
