This "essential" stuff is being played pretty loosely. Some girl that works at "hooters" posted her "essential employee" letter on social media. Glad that she's working but f*ck, I want to find the humor but this is retarded.

Anyways, another "essential" worker. We've cut back a bit on the hours but still getting OT. Put some safety measures in place. Starting Monday we'll be having our temperatures taken in the mornings and mid day. Work for a small oil/gas pipeline inspection company. 50 employees let go last week. Project i'm on still rolling. No real telling how it all plays out.

I’m sure there’s data somewhere, but from what I see it looks like the traffic is maybe 2/3 of what it normally is. Which is certainly enough of a reduction that there really is no slow or stop & go traffic now. But still...a lot of “essential” people out there. Not sure if the pool maintenance truck I saw falls in that category but whatevs.

I’m about to contribute to it myself today. Going into the shop to pick up some paychecks and some deliveries. I think I work for one of the last employers anywhere that doesn’t have direct deposit. And the checks alone I could probably let stack up a few weeks. But there’s some cat food I got from Amazon (all deliveries to the shop because I don’t trust stuff staying on the porch) I need to pick up. Aaaand another pair of Air Jordans too.

While I’m there, I can almost guarantee that there will be some fire I’ll have to put out. In which case I simply say not on the clock=not my problem.

Corporation and took personal leave of absence cause I’m a mature individual. Considering retirement anyway and this might motivate me to head to the Reno Retire Ranch. I’ve downsized at work a few times the last decade so making the move would probably save money since the rent is too dammed high.The irony is that even though I’m white I’ve got protected status as an old guy!

No direct deposit? Wow! Picking up checks, delivering them, taking said check to the bank, depositing with a teller or ATM. None of that is good for social distancing. I guess you might be able to deposit by phone something. Not having direct deposit would suck.

I have the SBA loan in my tool chest. Waiting a month to see what’s up then apply perhaps. Then wait a bit more to see what shakes and pull the trigger if needed. I would rather not put more debt on top of my debt but folding is a bad option.
