Cat in the middle of the road. Lady stopped her van to save the cat.
Pickup rear ended the van, killed her son, critical condition of pickup driver.

No I would not have stopped. Still think about that accident once in a while.

Yeah that totally sucks. As always, exercise caution and common sense when trying to be helpful.

With that in mind, I don't swerve for squirls. Reduce speed if safe to do so and hope the littler bugger isnt completely cracked out.

mine was freeway. darted out in front of a semi waving my arms. dude hit the brakes so hard the cab was bouncing up and down. stood my ground. in retrospect, dumbass. successful, but just as easily could have been full on disaster.
