WR250X vs. DRZ400SM

The WR doesn't respond to modifications (ie big bore) nearly as well as the DRZ. Yamaha did a much better job keeping it relatively uncorked from the factory.. So while there is less hassle to deal with, it certainly starts out closer to its potential wall.

Thread update -- Booyah!

My initial impression is this a FUN bike. Wants to bring out my inner hooligan and ride on sidewalks and jump over grassy knolls on my way thru the bank ATM.

Definitely needs a better exhaust and fuel programmer to wake it up a bit. But sweet bike so far :thumbup

Is that a ghetto hacked exhaust!!!? Lol

I know...it made me laugh too. That's not lasting long. Either going to go with FMF or Pro Circuit.

Congratulations and have fun.

Don't do it! Even the Q4 is just a stupid noisemaker. On the other hand, a dyno-tuned fuel controller is sweet.

I have to do something...there's some sort of janky aftermarket POS on there now. I think the Pro Circuit looks cool.

I may go black plastics and emulate this look.

As a fellow WRX owner, save your money on performance mod. It's 250cc engine, you're not going to squeeze very much power.

Just flog the fuck out of it around town.

Congrats! I have a 2009 WR250X as well, super fun! One thing I dont like about it is freeway riding... Ninja 250 felt better on freeway. but otherwise cool bike everywhere else!
