I want!

Anyone have one? Wanna let me ride it? Or at least tell me about it.

I'm looking at this over a drz400 due to
Fuel injection
Better brakes
Better suspension
A bit lighter
6th gear

For city commuting and motard tracks.

I later plan to get a dirt wheel setup

If you're gonna get dirt wheels eventually anyway, maybe just get the wr250r? Good enduro tires can be almost as good as supermoto tires, and it looks like you already have a pureblooded supermoto.

Nah. My priority is supermoto. The x is better Suspension setup for the street and they cost the same.

Really? Are you talking new? Last I looked (I been drooling over the wr250r) the r was $500 cheaper, at least on Yamaha's website.

Unless I'm blind.

Meh, ill trade power for better brakes and Suspension

Having owned two drz400sm's, one stock and the other with a big bore 440 Athena....... The drz is wayyyy better than the extra gear of the rev happy wr250x.

After riding the wr250x for a year and I found the bike to be great for the 6th gear , but fuuuug my life in needing to ring the neck off of a single to make any power....IMHO

Stock for stock, I think the WRX is better. The DRZ has a lot more aftermarket and history of modding, though. The WRX is just starting to get goodies like big tanks and big bores.

For my size, I preferred the WRX. But it's still hard to beat a DRZ - particularly when it comes to buying one used at a decent price.

(The R was cheaper than the X when they first came out, but it looks like they've changed that.)

Went through the same ordeal. Bang for the buck, the DRZ presents a much better bargain when you look at overall hooligan satisfaction and power available for wheelies.

... and somehow I ended up on an old plated XR250L which promptly choked on a piston a month after I bought it, and it has sat since June. I'm not bitter. (Yes, I am.)

If it makes you feel better I bought a ktm which was able to use for one trackday before a Bering in the counter balancer shaft went out.

Misery loves company. High five!

Parts are starting to trickle in, however, and I should have it rebuilt plus a shit ton of other improvements in about a month or so. Going to ride that bike until the end of god damned time. During the month it was initially running, riding it was a boatload of fun; I'd be lying if I said I wasn't looking forward to the restoration.

meh...

i have the wr250r and loving it...

had 2 drz400sm's which were good bikes but love the modern technology of the wr250r...

plus the chasis just seems to handle both street and offroad stuff better...just more responsive...and stable through long sweepers around skyline and agile for the roads on highway 1...

on the highway, the wr250r works better for me...only draw back is the small fuel tank...

yep, the drz has the 'torque' down low but runs outta steam whereas the wr250 needs to be ridden like a 2 stroker and keep the revs up but it's more than capable of doing it and happy to oblige when needed...

change the front sprocket or add 3 teeth in the rear and now it becomes a more responsive little zippy machine....

once ya learn the lil wr is happy keeping the revs up and keeping it there, it's a very entertaining little bugger..

p.s - the debate between wr250r/x vs drz400sm/s will always go on just as the ninja 250 vs turbo busa...

Oh good, an owner! If you don't mind us bugging you for opinions- I've been thinking about getting a wr250r as an only bike, to compliment my car. Do some trail riding, (maybe some fast trails) a little hills, a little city. It good for that?

Was also looking at the KTM 350 EXC-F, but it'll be bank.

i love mine for all around use...the seat height intimidates people from hopping on it when parked in the city....

it's perfect for san francisco and exploring trails (legal or not) ....

valve inspection is at 26,000 miles but i did mine at 8,000 just outta curiosity and it was within spec....do get radiator guards and change the handlebars if offroading it...the oem will bend easily...

i have some d.o.t dunlops but switching back to the deathwings for more road oriented stuff...

changing the front sprocket changed the bike completely...was geared too tall in factory spec...suspension is mushy tho...
