Yngwie was someone who broke new ground, but he still sounds like a Ritchie Blackmoor record played at 45rpm...

He had his day, and he was badass, 20 years ago.

7 months ago, at the Independant, he probably gained about 75 pounds, still squeezes into leather pants and the boots, still kicking guitar picks into the audience, and playing the same shit, the exact same way. His main influence was Ritchie. He can still play but shit, I was feeling sorry for him.

Ynqwie plays scales REAL fast, Eddie with his two hand picking, pretty much a gimmick. Now at lest Michael Schaenker of UFO could play fast AND stay relative to the song being played. Swear to god Schaenker could play better live than most of the recordings on their albums.

I remember back in the day when everybody wanted to get the sound that Eddie got out of his guitar. Somehow the rumor got out that he used 110v to get that scream, so people started hooking live AC to their pickups with disastrous results.
