WTF!! Wrong size tire mounted!!

Dude are really a moderator? If so I am calling Bull Shit and demand that you remove yourself immediately. You seem to know nothing about motorcycles.:shocker

too funny...at first i thought you might be a sensitive butterfly...now i know you're just trolling.

Total troll Bill...if he doesn't know why 44psi is a problem or why you run different air pressure on colder/ hotter days, we can't help him!

I think he believes that more surface area means a cooler running tire? That's one I hadn't heard...now tire construction / brand having different heating characteristics..that I've heard. Most importanly, tire construction makes a good tire...not so much the size. But what do I know...I'm new at all this stuff. What even is a cold tire crash?

Actually they'd probably say "we don't know sir". The bike is a Triumph.
What we have is fully, and totally, uneducated responses without any experience to make such judgements. Just remember that...

I stand corrected. I just called two TRIUMPH dealers and asked what size tire goes on the rear of this bike. They both said 180!:laughing

I guess in my 30 years of riding, I am still uneducated and have no experience, just like these dumb shop owners. Whatever dude. :wtf

Look, you can stick a bunch of different sprockets on a bike as well. So, according to your outlook, if someone takes a bike in that came with a 17 tooth front sprocket and a 190 rear tire, there is nothing "wrong" with giving the customer their bike back with a 170 tire and a 15 tooth sprocket right? Because some buddy of yours at the track has tried it and it worked.

Sure, whatever guy. You seem to think that your opinion is fact and everyone elses' is just an opinion. Truth is, it is still just an opinion. :thumbup

Will the bike work with a 160? Sure. Obviously. I've tried a 160, 170, and 180 on my bike. They all "worked". However, if I dropped it off with a 180 PP on it and told the guy "please replace the rear tire" I would expect it back with the same size. How is this "uneducated" and "inexperienced"?

No need to name call and get all angry. Just a reasonable response other than "some guys have used all kinds of different tire sizes and it's fine" and maybe you'll change my mind...

Have you read the whole thread? What are you so pissed off about?

...all we had was a 160 sized tire in stock in that brand/model.....told the customer that and he was cool with it.

Thanks Mike. Reading all the comments does help Brown. So long as the customer revieved what they paid for (and did not pay for a a bigger tire and recieved a smaller tire), I don't see the issue. The Customer was aware of the size change and agreed to it.

Normally I wouldn't correct someone's grammar because it's childish and petty, but you seem to appreciate precision in the written word.

And Bullshit is one word, not two. Again, I say this at the risk of sounding foolish, but I think you understand my point.
Sorry, I'll try harder.:laughing

Lester, please when you start name calling it means you lost.:thumbdown

rydmor - two questions for you:

1) Do motorcycle riders ever have problems with their tires getting "too much" heat while riding on the street?

2) What provides more grip: cold tires, or hot tires? In other words, does grip level increase or decrease with tire temperature?

Dude, I can understand that the concept of an over heated tire is foreign to you. You really can't push a tire to it's limit from posing between stop lights.:ride

That comment is particularly amusing considering the last time I saw Berto he was passing my ass in the A group like I was standing still. :laughing

Amen to that rydmohr! Can you show me how to overheat a tire?

Lester, try asking Holeshot. I understand he is the God of motorcycling. I've said all I care to on the subject of tires. But if you want to continue slinging poop I'm down for that.:thumbup

No No No...you can't get out that easy Rydmohr! In all honesty, BARF's pretty forgiving if you just admit you were over stepping your experience level and full of shit. I've been there...I know it's pride swallowing and all, but admit it, you were just in over your head thinking you understand this stuff correct?

I'm all for learning here if you can educate me though. It may help me go quicker...and I'm always up for that! (between stoplights).

Hey, It's all in good fun Holeshot. I hope your not all butthurt. Oh wait...I got a PM from the Boz Bros, their wondering why they weren't invited to your coming out party. Shame you could school them on Barf etiquette and maybe convince them to try a 160.:laughing
