Hey Gang,

I know someone is gonna say welcome to a few years ago, but I need some help with a running joke that I don't understand. I only started reading this comic recently.

I've seen 'sudo' mentioned a few times. That seems to be a running joke in this comic that I totally don't get. Can someone explain it to me?
 
The fun thing with xkcd is every time he refers to some nerdy concept people aren't familiar with it jumps way up in search rankings.

Yeah, I've been using a lot of Google since I started reading this comic. I even searched sudo, but I thought it was maybe one of yue character names.
