After today's trip to Road Rider to finally try and find some boots that fit me, I realize that I'm cursed with the worst combination of foot and calf proportions ever when it comes to fitting into decently protective motorcycling kicks. Small, wide feet and huge calves. To add to this, my Alpinestars track pants have a nice thick and rigid shin protecter, which helps to add a few CMs to the measurement.

I did finally find one that fit, a size 44 XPD XP-1 race boot. Protection seems decent, but I'm a bit skeptical as I've never heard of this brand before. The footbed was a little loose, but after trying on Daytonas, Sidis, Alpinestars, and a few others, this seems the absolute best fit. Here's a link for them, anyone got any info/have any experience with them?

as far as I know spidi makes good stuff. The suits seem to be pretty good quality, and some of the older slider and hooks were real nice. As for the boots, I don't think I know anyone who's ever worn them, but Colin Edwards supposedly does. The one problem I've run into with spidi is that there mid range gloves aren't nearly as nice as there upper range ones. Of course thats probably the norm, but alpinestar, dainese, and kushitani seem to be pretty close with the exception of carbon knuckles or whatever. The midrange Spidi gloves seem thin and seams don't seem to be great quality. Hopefully thats not the case with the boots though, and I have never ridden them, so don't trust me.

Edwards wears Sidi boots (not to be confused with Spidi). Chris Walker, however, does wear the whole Spidi outfit, including boots. They've recently redesigned those boots to have a better inner skeleton. I dunno if the new version is out yet.
