WTF is it? Everyone's got this racing fever, MotoGP, race replicas, etc. no wonder so many casualties occur in our community :mad

umm... what? yeah, moto gp racing fever... why the hell would that be?

too bad that this bumblebee's a four stroke... now it doesn't make as much sense, but what the hell... it looks so damn NICE!

now if they'd replicate that for an r1...

Nice. But I'd never paint my R-Wheezy that color...

I would . . . But then again, I'd also paint mine KTM orange, if I had the cash and the gumption. ;)

Wow, someone says something different, so he must be smoking a bong :rolleyes

How about, I think racing of any kind is pretty dumb. Especially when kids want to be like their racing idols and wad their supersports on 9 every weekend :twofinger

racing of any kind is dumb? I cant tell if you are referring to professional racing too? It wasnt that you said something different.... its that it made no sense to some of us

Yes, professional racing included.

I'm just confused when I see a picture of something hideous, like the above yellow yamaha, and everyone's on their knees sucking its dick, and I'm trying to figure out what all the fuss is about..

like you suck the dick of your Sig Pro, or all things German? :hand

different strokes for different folks dude.

For a lot of people, it's the history behind the colors. Yamaha's not doing it just to get their jollies off (well, maybe a little).

I think what you may be missing in people's enthusiasm for the replica paint job is that it represents a great deal of history and accomplishment for Yamaha.

Many people who have a deep appreciation for motorcycling also respect and appreciate the accomplishments of past riders (including King Kenny) - people who pushed the edge of the envelope at any given time and made their mark on motorcycling history.

Cast what aspersions you may on racing, but next time you enjoy smooth braking, or accurate fuel-delivery, whether it be from carbs or EFI, you might take a second to understand that a great deal of the hard core R&D which eventually contributes to the evolution of the motorcycle began, and was proven, on the racetrack. And this has been true for many, many years.

You may not like to watch it, and that is fine. But the fact that whatever you ride today works the way that it does likely owes something to research which was proven on the track.

Cheers!

Love the retro paint:thumbup

That's cool, but I prefer the old Wayne Rainey Marlboro paint scheme.

Any of you with R/C bikes will appreciate this 1/5th scale beauty:

Wow, I'm sorry I missed this thread before and Webberstyle's comments.

I was just telling someone that I thought Yamaha bringing back the yellow & black almost brought tears to my eyes, seeing as how they haven't been run since Kenny Roberts SENIOR wore them. It just made it that much more special.

(I also thought it was cool that the Hotbodies Hondas came out in retro paint jobs and Pegram wore the old school leathers to match.)
