What's obscene is the Adults attacking the messenger because they can't adequately address the message.

She and her fellow students have far more at stake than the attackers.

The attacks on her have made news, but she has had a lot of receptive audiences too. If you haven’t seen her TEDx talk in Sweden, it’s worth a watch.

There is enormous inertia to overcome worldwide as humanity must make profound changes to stop making climate change worse. It’s understandable that people want to be 100% sure those steps are necessary. It’s also unlikely that we’ll be quite that sure.
 
Believe in climate change or not however those same human activities she's protesting against are also polluting the planet.
Are there people out there arguing that pollution isn't something to concern ourselves with.

The biggest driving force against climate change is for PROFIT. Since there is a lot of money involved, there is a lot of money to hire people (Politicians, news anchors, talk show hosts, etc.) to undermine the perception of it's necessity.

I get whats behind it but there's more than one benefit to cleaning up our act. Yet the focus is always on climate change with its impact being further down the road. Therefore giving opponents their only wiggle room to argue against the theory and need for taking action.

With all due respect, you and others are not questioning her perspective of climate change. You are questioning her BECAUSE SHE IS A CHILD. The fact that her opinion and statements may be valid is another thing altogether. If that's what you were arguing or questioning, fine. Go for it. But it's not. You are merely arguing BECAUSE SHE IS A CHILD.

Let's say for a second that you are an older man, just as an example. Why should I listen to anything you say? Clearly you are out of touch and probably close to senility. You should probably just be locked up in a convalescent home to spend your days yelling at clouds.

But that's not how it works. Your (hypothetically you) opinion is just as valid as an able-minded adult, which is just as valid as a 16-year-old's.

It's totally fair to question or even attack the message of any man, woman, or child. Especially if they sit at the tip of the spear of a major movement.

The message is, "listen to the science."

But the message isn't what's being assailed. It's the messenger, who is threatening and intimidating to many people because she's an effective leader, young, and a female.

The attacks say nothing about her or her message, but they reveal much about the attacker.
