So it turns out that I lost my wallet today on skyline while taking a ride from San Jose to Pescadero. When I get home from my ride there is this yellow Yamaha with a rider just getting off of his bike and lo and behold he's got my wallet!

Motorcyclists are pretty much one of my favorite groups of people in general but this just proves it. I've already forgot the guys name because I was so taken aback that he found it and was in front of my house at the exact same time I came home. I know it begins with an "S" and he's got 46 stickers on the back so he's a Rossi fan and that sits well with me too :)

Anyway he's telling me how he found it directly on the center line on 35, not sure how it actually saw it, he must be super focused, I certainly would not have seen it or if I did probably would not have realized what it was. Regardless he pulls his bike over, picks it up, and brings my wallet home to my house.

The really crazy thing is that I lost my wallet on my way to Pescadero because on my way back I noticed it was not in my back pocket. So I'm riding home kind of bummed that I lost it, having no idea where....there was no way I was going to find it. Then there he his, at my house with my wallet.

The timing of it all is pretty amazing considering I drove all the way to Pescadero and back and he was hanging out a for a bit at Alices and we both arrive at my house at the exact same time!

If anybody knows this guy, I'd like to buy him a beer. I feel like a jackass for forgetting his name but I know what his bike looks like ;) If I see him at Alices I'll make sure I don't forget his name next time.

Also, thanks to the many riders who pointed out the cops on skyline today, they were EVERYWHERE. Traffic on the rode out to 84 was insane when I came back. I got really lucky as I had to only pass a few cars and it was clear sailing through all the fun parts

Thanks for listening and I hope someone can help me figure out this guys name. I'm glad there are still a few good people out there! Ever since this covid crisis has hit my disdain for people is at an all time high, so this made me fell really good :)

That is cool.

Good karma for the Rossi fan to be so nice :thumbup

Great story. There are a lot more really good people than bad. I've gone out of my way many times to return lost stuff to its owners. It has come back to me as well.

Nice. Kudos to the rider for just bringing it to the address on your D/L instead of trying to involve the PD.

Back in the 80's I had a wallet climb out of my back pocket and drop onto the street. A guy in a car saw it happen and picked it up. I think he called me at home, since it was in the days when we were all listed in the white pages. He worked in a building near where I worked at the time. Turned out he was the president of whatever company it was and had a huge corner office with a view. Of course he refused any reward for it. I really appreciated it.

Hey, if you see that guy, ask him if he found a wallet from my friend George. Of course he lost his on Skyline 5 years ago.....

I love Good Sams. They always keep my hope in humanity alive.

Happy to hear you got your stuff back!

I once saw a wallet drop out of a rider's pocket in Sunnyvale while I was caging it. I managed to chase him down and return it.

For all of you who carry your wallet in your back pocket when riding......DON'T! You will loose it someday. I always put my wallet in the front left upper pocket of my Darien when I rode. It went nowhere else. Never lost it.

Thanks for sharing the positive story.

Similar story... Buddy and I were riding in Santa Cruz mountains (many years ago). He realized that his wallet was missing when we stopped by Dave Moss's shop to pay for suspension adjustment (had $800 in there which he had gotten after selling something on Craigslist). We had no clue where it could be because we had ridden a lot of roads.

Long story short, he gets a phone call from a lady and asks for his info and says she found a wallet on the road near her home. She meets us off Pescadero. Turns out with his ID info, she googled him and found a phone number that he had posted on some website many years ago. She had everything in a Ziploc and refused to allow us buy her even a coffee let alone any cash reward..

There are a lot of nice people left in this world!

Great story about a great person.

Now put that wallet in your front pocket after emptying all the stuff you don't really need out of it.

Same here. When I got my seat custom made by Seth Laam for my FJR, he added "wings" to it for support. The one on the left would push ever so slightly against the bottom of my wallet so I got into the habit of placing it in my left front pocket on my Tour Master riding jacket. More comfortable for my behind also.

Great story on the Good Sam!

Or if you insist on keeping your wallet in your rear pockets, it's not too late to bring back wallet chains.... :laughing

no offense to those to actually still use those..

but only danger is, if your wallet happens to fall out, hopefully it doesnt get caught in your chain/belt or even your brake rotor.

Who needs a wallet?

Isn't everything you need, or think you need, on your phone?

That's a cool story, that's some good sleuth work on her part!

I'll NEVER ride with it in back pocket again. I usually ride with leathers and that means the wallet goes inside vest pocket in my jacket but this day I chose my Kevlar jeans and put it in my back pocket by habit.

I need to just start carrying in the front jeans pocket since it's safer there in any case.

I agree there are still some nice people left, I'm happy to hear so many other positive stories with similar outcomes :)

You must drive fast ;) Glad you were able to catch him and make his day!

I'm pretty old school, I don't have Google Wallet or Apple Pay and it's hard to show an officer a picture of your license ;)

I still wear a wristwatch, LOL.

Yea, pretty fast. Almost lost him because he was lane sharing, but I did manage to catch up with him.

Turns out he'd just moved here from out of state and if I'd not caught him, it would have been pretty tough returning his wallet based on the info inside.
