If there's any problem with it, it's that it's a little masculine. I mean, I get it--the book was written that way. But if we're talking 8,000 years in the future, you'd think that women would have progressed a little. Jessica could barely walk in her Japanese-looking footwear that she dons in the palace. There was still talk about Paul marrying one of the Emperor's daughters in order to form a peaceful alliance. I don't need to see 90 lb chicks kicking ass in a war scene the same as a man, but can she at least have comfy shoes around the house and not be a in burka and walking behind her man during her first trip to the new planet?
Otherwise, I thought the movie was great. I could talk a lot more about it! I'm a huge fan of the book and even liked the 80's version. It's fun to compare the two. I'm so glad that they allowed this movie to take its time. If I had a complaint about the 80's version, it would be that it felt like it really rushed things during the second half. That's the industry's fault though--different story today when 4 hr movies and sequels are the norm.
