What Bike Should Doc Get Next? Suggestions?

So here’s my situation, my trusty 2007 BMW R1200GS is now gone. Although I have plenty of other motorcycles in my stable, they are mostly vintage bikes along with a couple of Ducati older sport bikes.

So I’m in the market for a do it all bike, dual sport most likely but not necessarily so.

Years ago I rode a KTM Super Duke and it was SO fun, made me break a whole bunch of laws ;-) And now this week I got on a Ducati V4 Multistrata, but still had the heebie-jeebies getting back on the bike so I’m not sure. It seems I handle extremely well and has a whole lot more power than I need.

Any suggestions? Up until now I have completely avoided taking test rides on other peoples motorcycles, forcing myself to be happy with what I had.
 
I've always been a Yamaha fanboy, so I'll suggest the Tracer 9GT

With so many great bikes on the market going to be a hard decision. Looking forward to see what you buy.
 
Have read good things about:
- Tracer 9 GT+ (in US next year)
- Honda Transalp XL750 (also 2024 model)

Neither's insanely powerful but both are highly capable.
 
Last weekend I took a day trip on the Superduke GT and the cruise control helped me break the law less of the ride. Which was welcome on a 3-day weekend with CHP out in force.

However if the Multistrada V4 has more power that you want, that might be true of the SDGT as well.

Have you considered an R1250R or R1200R to replace your boxer twin? I feel like I've aged out of touring & day trips on mine, but it's still the best commute bike I've owned, and have tried to convince myself to keep it.

I wanted a GT+, but the not getting it until next year was a deal breaker for me. Considered the regular GT that we have now, but the display seemed like it was designed for younger riders who can make out the small print.

Another (newer) BMW, same 1200?

I think all are good options, though the SMT may be less fun for long freeway rides than the Yamaha or BMW.
 
I don't know if you have a lift or not. What about building a motorcycle from a rolling chassis? Or fixing a broken one.. I always found that to be therapeutic.

It'll give you time to heal both mentally and physically, ya know? It's like 'extended retail therapy'. You get to buy tools and parts and work with your hands. It's a win-win.

I suggest one with two wheels. The ones with four wheels suck.
 
Absolutely love my BMW S1000R, great all-around bike but for dirt (Although I have a mile of funky dirt road before I hit tarmac). Very capable on track too. If you want more dual sport look at the XR.
 
The answer is.... V-Strom 1050 for touring and two-up or 650 for off-road or burning through the twisties. Or maybe try the new 800 P-Strom (parallel twin not v-twin) but the jury is still out on that one.

I need to test tide them to see what connection I have with the ride experience. Biggest, bassest, fastest is not what im looking for. I’ll know when I ride it though.

Sport bikes for the street is definitely a no-no for me. They “make” you do bad things. They only feel good to me on the track. On the track you can go fast enough where the riding position is completely relaxed when leaned over. ;-)

That’s why on the street I typically ride on knobbies.
 
Katoom 890 adventure?
Great engine, comfy ergos, swiss army knife capabilities....
 
Sounds like a possibility, I’ll check out the KTM 890 Adv. The 1 liter ines are too tall for me. If i cant tip on obe toe, its too tall.
