2026 F1 thread, when season starts there will be spoilers.

These are the best vids I’ve found on the whole start up procedure. Ya, the whole engine is heated before firing.

 
Williams is going to miss initial testing day because they can't get their car to pass crash testing. Remember the same thing that happened to Alpine. Oh wait, didn't Williams hire the guy from Alpine to be their Technical Director?

I know, it's practice and not everybody is pushing. But, it is nice to see all that were out were able to complete many laps (except Cadillac only did a total of 44 laps where most others did over 100).

I didn't see Ferrari in that list.
 
This is 5 days of testing with each team allowed 3 of those days. Not everybody went out on the first day (today). I would expect to see the rest out tomorrow except for Williams as it appears they had an issue with their car and will not be in Barcelona this week.
 
Race fastest lap last year was 1:15. Pole was 1:11. New cars ain’t slow already. Wow.

They might even look faster on TV since they are a little smaller.

Good to know. I'll bet that most top teams will want the most time between each run to make updates to maximize their evolution.
 
Considering a Racing Bull was fastest at a 1:18 on this first outing of the new cars (nobody was "pushing" hard). I would say these might end up being faster in lap time. However, may be slower through the corners (straight speed might be up do to the active aero and the "push to pass")
 
The regs also reduced the fuel amount from 110kg to 70kg. It’s kinda nuts the extra harvest can make up for such a large decrease in fuel.

Doubtful. The whole car needed a new monocoque to ditch the zero pods entirely. This is only a front wing. Theyll surely bring a few new front wings this year.

Design details like this are showing different approaches to this season's development. Other teams are intentionally bringing designs with less detail this early, waiting to put in more effort into later iterations after some testing. Merc seems to be putting in more effort to their first iterations. The running order throughout the year could swing wildly, especially given the cost and dev caps.

IMO, Merc's approach is the most risky. If their simulations were deficient, their early solutions will also be deficient and this extra effort ($$ and dev time) will be wasted. But Merc did great with the prev raked flat-floor cars. So maybe their sims and solutions will be good.
 
F1 TV Pro isn’t / won’t be available in the US anymore. Existing subs will expire and not renew. You could use a VPN. But subbing to AppleTV is prob a better choice. It’s nearly the same price and you get the Apple content.
