yeah - we’re thinking about getting one of these for the super steep sections (mostly just weeds and wild grasses). it would be easy to run it more often, before the veg gets really high. plus, i love the idea that if it rolls, it’s unmanned.

for those areas that are hard to maintain then year long roundup works for me. would probably work even better in CA as there is less rain to wash it out. year long sprays here last maybe 6 months. Which reminds me its time to get a new battery for the ATV so I can put the 20 gallon sprayer on it and get the yard under control for spring/summer. Now to just wait for a day where its not so breezy.

some around here use pre-emergents. spraying live / grown veg doesn’t really help with fire abatement. also doesn’t help with the duff (we usually have 6-8” of that by the end of fall). that said, we don’t use any chemicals. am too worried about possible impact to the trees. maybe an unfounded fear, but i’m like a momma grizzly when it comes to the trees. zero risk taken.

could go either way - handy tool, or ridiculous toy. they have a 30 day money back deal, so we kinda figure what the hell. if it works as advertised, it will solve the biggest challenge we have that a quad won’t solve, so we can go back to that for the remainder. and probably cut the total equipment cost by around 30-40% for the pair. worth a shot.

Yeah have to be careful around trees. Can't use the year long anywhere over the root system or it will uptake it and damage the tree. I use regular roundup around my cypress because that will not uptake through the roots and it won't harm the trees unless I use a surfactant and hit the leaves but don't do either around those trees.

Did a lot of research when I had a cattail infestation in my pond so probably know more than I want to about weed killers and how to get it to effect different plant species.
