hi everyone,

I'm up in sacramento for law school, and for about 2 weeks now ive been feeding a stray cat family thats been hanging around the backyard of my apartment. The family is a momma cat, a dad cat, and two kittens

so last night the dad cat and the more curious kitten followed me into my apartment, the other kitten and the mother cat didn't show up when i went out to feed them

in any case they seem to really enjoy being inside my apt, i ran out to walmart last night to pick up more cat food and litter box and found out both the dad cat and the kitten know how to use the litter box (YAY) i also picked up a flea comb and some general flea treatment and ive been combing them for fleas, but i still need to pick up a better vaccuum because i really dont want a flea infestation

in any case, i'm very conflicted as to what to do, the no-kill non-profit in sacramento is all full and the spca will euthanize the cats if no one adopts them and i just dont have the heart to do that to them (they are very friendly and lovable, first night with me they crawled up right next to me to sleep)

also i know i need to take them to the vet for shots and check up and possibly neutering the dad cat, although theyre just begining to trust me so im not sure when i should take them to the vet (dont want to traumatize them)

and what are your tips to keep the fleas from eating me alive? i had a cat when i was much younger and it got fleas once and it was absolutely terrible

sorry for such a long post, i will take some pictures of them, if anyone can give them a loving home that would be awesome (i can take care of them temporarily, long term is very uncertain) and i welcome any and all tips and advice as to what i should be doing for them

It will kill any fleas and stop any infestation. Available at the vet about $13 a treatment

HappyHornet, do i have to bring them to the vet or can i just pick it up and apply it myself? im pretty sure thyre not going to travel very well just yet
 
just ask the vet it is over the counter now.

The only problem I have right now is that my living situation isnt completely certain, and i dont know what to do over breaks because im only up here for school, my home is in cupertino and i really dont know what to do.
