Hello barfers,

**EDIT --This is still going for 2015--
Since this started way over 50 barfers have joined the AMA. I contacted the AMA this last week (Dec. 5th of 2014) to check in on our AMA O/MC deal as I had not received a bill. No worries.. your good and also thanks for the membership drive.. it was successful and the link is still active.

Since we saw the AMA come out in favor of Lanesharing as Surj share with us in this thread Interview on Lane Splitting with AMA Board Member Jim Viverito and several folks had indicated that because the AMA now support their AMA O/MC #0001 in supporting Lane Sharing they would join the AMA. So since the link is still open you can send 5 bucks of your membership to the Hall of Fame Museum in barf name. Does not cost you any extra and shows support from the O/MC back to the AMA. So please read below for more info. Happy Holidays!!

I recently became a Charter Life Member of the AMA ( AMA) for 25 years of support of the sport.

We are going to do a fundraiser/ membership drive for the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame (AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame) in celebration of the above and barf's 10 year anniversary :party

Old info: If you join the AMA it is $49, and due to them working with barf they will kick $5 of that towards the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame in barf's name. Barf will get a plaque in the museum, and the size depends on how we do. I already sent a check for $500 toward the museum to gain the first level of the plaques. Small, but precious to me.
AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum (Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum)

However we still want you to help fight for our rights....!! Join us Join the AMA.

If you want to join the AMA, click this link: Join the AMA

If you're already a member and want to support the effort by donating to the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame you can click this link: I will still help!

Now… why I want to do this.
The reason I do want to help really is to get more members into the AMA fold. The AMA is one of few groups that actually has some horsepower in Washington and beyond to fight for our rights. We saw that in their successful win over the lead law that would have blocked sales of kids motorcycles and ATVs. We need that kind of clout--big time. With land closures, bike bans and other bad laws popping up all the time, we need them to help us keep the playing field level.

I want my grandkids and yours to have the chance to enjoy our sport like we do. With so many folks who don't understand why we choose to ride, and also devalue us as humans because we do, our rights get stepped on all the time. To keep those rights, we need to fight back. The AMA does that better than anyone, and you get some perks out of being a member, too.

Here is a list of the perks: click the link to go and read all about them

The most important to me is the first one—government efforts--because I know we are always being challenged by our government because we are a minority that needs a loud voice. The AMA gives us that voice, and their success is well documented.

This link is the membership brochure that you can click through for more information: Membership Brochure

We are also adding your AMA Number to your personal ID on barf if you want to show that your support the sport. You can check out this thread to see who has done just that so far:

I am proud to be an AMA Life Member and hope many of you will take this chance to join as well--and the barf community will get a little love back from the AMA.

So here is the membership benefit that is one of the most important to me.

AMA GOVERNMENT RELATIONS
http://www.americanmotorcyclist.com/Rights/IssuesLegislation.aspx
The AMA has a full-time staff in Ohio, Washington, D.C. and California works diligently to protect your right to ride. Keep up with the issues in the AMA Rapid Response Center and the Rights section of American Motorcyclist magazine. I am adding some commentary to this in Red.

You can Register to Vote & Sign Up for Free AMA Email Alerts! ( I get them and pass along as often as I can)

FEATURED ALERT - This is the AMA's action of the day or week or an ongoing issue. The call for help to protect our right to ride. This pulls together people who care about just that to contact their politico's to support their (your wishes).

So here is the current hot one.

Contact your senators and representative today!
The inappropriate federal "Wild Lands" policy was thought to be dead and buried -- until now.

The American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) opposes the "Wild Lands" policy because it can restrict responsible off-highway vehicle (OHV) riding with little or no public input whatsoever. ...

There is a little blue box called TAKE ACTION

Already a member so I donated in BARF's name! :thumbup the AMA rocks

So do you Todd! :Port

Done & done but I didn't see how to donate in barf's name :dunno

If this includes cars, then it's WAY, WAY better than AAA roadside assistance. And for $50, I believe it's cheaper, too.

Will join the AMA next payday... seems to be some benefits even for those who have never gotten to the track though not for lack of trying.

My wife and I just became new AMA members

Motorcycle towing alone is worth the membership. :teeth

Now to drop AAA.......

James

I let it expire during hard times :(

Reupping through BARF :thumbup
Thanks Budman

FWIW sign almost ALL of the petitions, they make it so easy.

If you want your number listed James.. shoot it to me.. and :thumbup

We are still rocking this.. hope to have more barfers join and find value in the membership along with your support of the sport!

Dennis, my bad, this thread has eluded me. It's weird, stickies don't catch my attention. Go figure.

I went through the initial steps and couldn't find the place/field to say I'm with BARF. So I stopped to avoid doing something wrong. Please guide me here.

Also, like James said, the moto/car roadside assistance alone it's worth it. It even sounds better than AAA. How do you compare both services?

Thanks,

Marc.

I am not sure how to compare Marc.

Maybe we need an Official AMA member to help sort it out. :laughing
I am sure there is a place to ask questions about membership and if you do that please share the info.

If you went through the link it will automatically go to the barf fundraiser. They have these buggy things that track it.
