OP...technically since the rider in front of you was riding in the left-hand side of the lane, you should have been a bit more towards the right side of the lane. And the person behind you should have passed on the left of your lane. Which is what happened.

You should not have been riding on the left part of your lane because you would have been directly behind the rider in front of you.
