2003 Honda S2000 Advice

Ah, this must be the 914 replacement... Nice!
I remember going up to the Oregon Caves with the wife and a whole heard of these came by on the boil. Sweet.
Turned out it was a club from Portland that made a annual pilgrimage (ralley) that ended up there for the night.
If you haven't had the privilege of driving the road up the hill to the Caves, it's one for the books.

Advice same as given to an owner of a very swift Sunbeam Tiger,

"Sandbags"

Why? See photos above. ;)

Odd, 50/50 weight distribution like my Miata.

I've never come close to spinning the Miata since I bought it in 1994 and while it doesn't have that much power I've had it at speed through corners and just getting the rear to break free now with 195 series tires and the FMC suspension is nigh impossible.

Unless you are an idjit of course.:laughing

Friend of mine just introduced me to MX-5 Cup racing. It's all spec and the racing is wild. Lots of bump drafting :laughing

I spent a weekend down at Laguna Seca back in the early 2000's where a friend was racing in an upper class at the petit le Mans event there.

They had an MX Cup class there and that group who were all together under one huge tent, were by far, having the most fun throughout the whole weekend of all of the racers. The camaraderie among the drivers was clearly evident.

Is that a 2003? or did the current owner do an ap2 headlight, taillight, bumper conversion?

I have no idea. Answers are elusive. The current owner just did an engine swap and is flipping the car to me. I will ask.

There are 10 vins on the s2000. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qHS3OchNk-s
Check the suspension bushings/motor mounts for worn bushings
The AP1 has the F20 motor. They tend to burn some oil. The AP2 has the F22 motor. The engine has been replaced... Confirm which motor was swapped in.

That looks very sweet Butch.

I found a couple

Looks horrible! Let me know the contact info of your friend selling it. I will buy this monstrosity to save you from making a big mistake. :teeth

It is now in my garage. I had to drive it back from Soquel. SJ Sequel Rd, Old Santa Cruz hwy, Alma bridge road. Arduous. First world problems. Sweet car. It gets on the pipe at six grand. I think. More testing required.

Congrats Butch. :thumbup

Hope it bring many smiles for many miles. :drive

Congratulations Butch. Wishing you many happy trips to the rev limiter.

Congratulations!

I lusted after that car for years, but could never justify spending the $$$$$ to get one.

It's a Honda... how could you go wrong? :dunno
Enjoy!

Nice pickup.

Congratulations!

I lusted after that car for years, but could never justify spending the $$$$$ to get one.

And they're still $$$$$$. Anybody that has had an eye on one for awhile and finds one for a reasonable price and has the scratch to spare should definitely pull the trigger if they can.

I've been a Toyota man my whole life but the S2K is one of the Hondas that would make me jump ship.

Some years ago a friend of mine threw a big turbo on his. It was fast but it ruined the whole response and drivability of the car. Yeah it was fast but ruined one of the best parts of the car. Power isn't everything.

The rest of them that were close to stock with some suspension upgrades and brake upgrades were wonderful to drive.
