That's sarcasm........ right?
Actually, no.
I like the show, I'm grateful that they put it on the TV where I can DVR it to view at my leisure, and it gives me enough coverage to satisfy what I want from it.
If it were an hour show, it might be better, but honestly for what I want from coverage (the overall meta progress and any high level themes that progress throughout the rallye), the half hour is enough. The cars and bikes get more coverage than the trucks and quads, but that's ok, and they have enough eye candy of action shots to suit me.
After awhile is all looks the same anyway. "Look, a car running down a dirt road. Look, a bike running down a dirt road. Look, a truck running down a dirt road...." "Which truck?" "The green one."
The rallye is huge, with a zillion participants, of which 2 or 3 are even American, and only 4 will win. It would perhaps be different if I were closely following someone, but I'm not. So the 10,000 foot view, 1/2hr a day hits my sweet spot. My hope is that the race isn't over by the 7th day, but you just never know.
I think they do a really good job with their coverage, the variety, what they cover from day to day, given the limitations they impose on it. And the videography is excellent. Love the vistas.
If they were doing 5 hour a day coverage, I likely wouldn't watch any of it.
