2021 Ford Bronco - shots fired

Does Jeep sell different models, one with permanent roofs, and others with detachable ones?

Yes, but the only body on frame, solid axle, high articulation model (Wrangler) is removable top-only. The unibody models are probably better every day vehicles, but to me, the only options, were I to get a full tilt off road capable vehicle, would be a pickup. And not a Gladiator.

Hnnnngh! Such an awesome rig. It’s really not a matter of if anymore, but when am I gonna get one.

Just put the deposit down - why not? :laughing

Because my boss also owns a Ford dealer. And he told me if I’m not looking to be first on the block to have it, then after the hoopla dies down and there’s Broncos on the ground, I can just buy one on A plan. He won’t give me A plan for a Raptor or Shelby Mustang, but a Bronco is definitely not going to be a limited thing, so eventually production will easily overtake demand.

I'm also going to wait until the hype dies down and it becomes another car on the lot. (I also need time to save up the money for one. :p)

removable roofs have always been a leak point, it doesn't matter which manufacturer. it's a known problem on the original bronco and blazer to the point that if you ever took the roof off it WILL leak after reinstallation. water goes through holes, convertibles are just holes waiting to be opened.

Anecdotal for sure, but my '89 never leaked and I had the top off as much as possible.
90-something drop-top Camaro never did, either.

Might have gotten lucky with both vehicles?

:dunno

What's A plan?

Invoice minus holdback minus flooring minus any other incentives that may be active at the time. Then add like $300 for a program fee. Generally, it means it’s about $1500 less than the absolute very best deal an outsider can get.

Leaks aren't always the biggest deal in CA, but no matter where you are, that shit is noisy. Old Camaros were noisy AF. New Wranglers are, too, relatively speaking. And as I said earlier, goodby to roof storage. Not so much of a problem with a Camaro or whatever, but when the vehicle in question is intended for getting deep into camping type places or skiing, etc, kinda kills a lot of the usefulness.

I remember a road test on the Suzuki Samurai back in the day, they said it was actually quieter with the top down. :rofl

That's one of those Jeep things I never understood I guess. Got a ride on a buddy's new Wrangler and it was bouncing my innards and made a hell of a racket. I couldn't deal with it. Especially in the Bay where you're guaranteed a 3-hour freeway drone just to get anywhere fun.

Be careful. A-Plan is not always the best deal. My Ranger, for example, was $225 over invoice total which was much better than A Plan offered on the same truck and I bought it through Costco like I have most of my vehicles. It pays to shop around even if you work for the manufacturer.

That is why I ordered the wildtrak edition. Auto, adaptive cruise, high speed suspension system. Should be AWESOME.

Nice.

Do you get to build to order with the Costco thing?

Why put a deposit down? All the first editions are spoken for. I see no reason to let Ford hold $100 for something that is going to be mass produced shortly.
