It was great meeting you and your cute lil' bobbing duck!

I swear that was the funniest thing...seeing you fly by me at mach20 with that duck bobbing his head.

Good times...can't wait till next year!

Chuck.

Chuck is a sport touring badass. He belongs to Jan who makes it clear before each long ride that if Chuck gets f'd up, that's my ass. I am not allowed to participate in any multiday rides without Chuck.

Chuck is in charge of keeping the tires sticky and yelling at deer, owls, cats, bats, lizards and bunnies and of course hitting on chicks.

22 hours in I realized that i was not going to finish in time, just as I was calling in to take a DNF (did not finish) another guy drove in from out of nowhere and he was really upset with himself. From the looks of it he was in serious contention for the top 5 but blowing the last checkpoint was too much for him to bear and he went home disgusted with himself.

When I called in the Rally Master sd that if I had over 1000 mi. that I would still qualify for my Saddle Sore cert. as long as I got a copper or a firefighter to sign off on my odometer so I spent 30 minutes finding a cop and at 22.5 hours and 1250+ miles ended my first stab at the Cal 24.

Now that I know what to expect I will have a different strategy and a have my bike rigged a little different.

Chuck still thinks we could have made it and hasn't talked to me for the past 2 days except to call me a pussy. He's a "fowl" mouthed duck. :p

I've got the results around here somewhere. There were 39 finishers, I was the 39th, checking in at 8:59. Will try to do better next year.

And a 919 is NOT the best bike to use on a ride like this.
