ADV/DS ride Lake Berryessa/Knoxville OHV/Rayhouse Rd.

Thanks to Drew for orchestrating a great ride.

From the level of interest on Barf, I was expecting 5 or 6 riders and was thus stunned to roll up into a motogp paddock sort of scene at the Fairfield 'bucks. I was adopted by a friendly group of KLRs (Tim, Hugh, ...) but had trouble keeping track of them and eventually lost them entirely after the flat tire in Knoxville.

Had a great time chasing Aaron chasing the KTMs on the trip back over Reiff Road and then skipped out on the final trip through Knoxville on the principle that the time to slow down is when you first think about it. Took Pope Canyon to Angwin to St. Helena and slabbed it home.

Mad props to Dan on the Bonneville. That was impressive.

Apparently, I was having more fun on Knoxville-Berryessa Rd than the front wheel of my BMW F650CS could handle. BUT, it held air all day and never gave me any wobbles.

Anyone know of a good wheel straightener other than the Frame Man?

Gerry Piazza

if curious about his bona-fides, ask pretty much any AFM rider :thumbup

Couldn't believe how many of you guys were at the bridge today, ready to rock. Looked like an awesome group ride. You were all there one minute, gone the next.:cool Nice pics!

Ah, so that was you who blasted past us on the way to the bridge. I didn't get a good look at the bike but I definitely recognized the shrill shriek of your Honda's exhaust. Damn, you were moving! :ride

El Sid, nice to see you again even if it was only when you stopped tearing it up for a break. I couldn't tell if you were faster on your new 650R or not since you were just too far ahead :twofinger

Dean nice to see you again as well, give me a heads up next time you guys blast the Oakland/Berkley hills with your supermotards I'll throw the 17's on and we can ride!!:twofinger

Holy cow! Any idea how that happened?

BTW, it was great seeing you again. I really enjoyed the conversation and food at the Road Trip Cafe in Capay.

WOW Greg when did that happen. You did not even hit the dirt. Did you feel it when it happened.

:thumbup :ride :cool

Next trip out with you guys, I hope to hit the dirt. For now I will prepare. practice, and exercise for a nice ride. The 35mph slap down that I had on the 1st did hurt me a bit. I need some physical therapy. like the giggling of a nice round up motorcycle to get my muscles back into condition for dual sport action.

Greg, sorry to hear about your wheel, man. What a drag. I hope the repairs are relatively cheap.

I'm hoping to be out in the eastbay hills this weekend, I'll touch base when plans firm up. :teeth

Sorry I missed you and the Banjoboy :ride...was late for doing some swimmin' in the cove at the bridge.:cool
Wish I could join these adventure rides, but parts seem to fall off my Honda everytime I go the backroads.:)

So I finally muster up enough energy to wash my bike and what do I find too? I guess 25lbs psi cold is too soft for the poor wheel.

Dean, you need to be slow as molasses. That's my secret to keeping my rims straight. Ouch man, that sucks.
