ADV/DS ride Lake Berryessa/Knoxville OHV/Rayhouse Rd.

Been a crazy Summer so far. Had to work during this month's ride so I went on Saturday. I traded the Bonneville for a bike that can run dual sport tires. I was hoping to get the new Honda 250 Enduro but it appears to be "vapor ware". I saw one at the Honda display in Indy (MotoGP) but no dealers had seen them.

I bought a Triumph Scrambler. Nothing quite like a 550 pound, 50 hp "dirt" bike! I felt confident as long as I had my SPOT. Got home and found out it had quit working! I have a new Spot now. The Triumph has Heidenau K60 tires, engine guard bars and a 2-into-1 high pipe.

Hope to make next month's ride.

A Rambler ? Like this one Dan ?

Alas I will have to miss this once again. The weather should be much much better now that it's starting to cool down. I'm in for November for sure though.
Have a great ride folks.

10/14 Ride

Hey I'd like to join in on this ride but I don't have a GPS. I'm not concerned with the dirt sections, but I don't know the area. So I'm wondering if its easy to tag along with someone who knows where they're going. I usually hold my own with most groups but not into blasting through blind corners or over blind hills. I'm riding out of Pleasanton.

Hey 1%_spawn,
This isn't a all out haul fest, very mellow group who are very accomodating and helpful. Most are on big trailies or even street bikes, some two up even.
I've only been a couple of times but it's always been mellow (unless you're trying to keep up with Undertheoaks) then you're flying. Just kidding Sid :teeth. Seavoyage is a cool dude who makes sure everyone comes out alive but based on your avatar you'll have no issues.
wishin' I could go this month

It is a fun ride with no pressure. I was pretty slow with my street tire Bonneville. It is all dirt roads unless you want to venture off on some other trail. Time to get some dirt on that Adventure.

Ride!!!!!!!

I'm in! Hey Sid,when are you getting to the starbucks? Do you feel like 'lettin' it all hang out?':ride

Stupid newby question... I'm a bit of a gear freak and after riding in my touring getup last weekend and nearly drowning in sweat, would you guys recommend more of a motocross approach for safety gear... Really thinking about a Leatt brace and some hard armor under a jersey. thoughts?

Just rode down 121 (Monticello) Monday afternoon from Lake Berryessa. CalTrans has just finished repaving it. You're all in for a treat. The new asphalt is smooth and grippy. Be prepared to wear down your knobbies a bit. :)))

I don't have a Leatte but I'm going to wear my FOX armor under an old Spidi Offroad jacket. If/when I get hot I can take off the jacket and still have some decent protection. I'll also wear some shin guard/knee pads. I'll trade some sweat for some protection any day but I like the stealth approach.

Either street or mx/dirt gear is good - you will see both on the ride, with the faster riders and smaller/lighter DSs opting more for the mx gear, but street is okay as long as you don't go crazy :twofinger

See you on Sunday :thumbup

Either way. I figure I spend more of my miles on the road so I often wear my road getup but on the hothot days I have gone for armor and a jersey. I think this weekend will be just fine for streetwears, but it really just depends on how hard you wanna work offroad.

Hit some sales and got some more mx style gear... got lucky and fit the 170 buck special leatt braces, so going to give that a shot. I love my tiezms suit, but that mother effer is so damn heavy it will be nice to rock something a little lighter and have some more airflow

Translation: Ready to pose as hard as possible!

Hey Y'all, I'll link up with you guys at my driveway (Knoxville Road) again. My son Matt is in town and should be joining us too (and you thought I was a crazy rider!). Looking forward to seeing everyone on Sunday.
