I'm not sure how long before things are posted, so I thought I would ask here? How long before they are posted and where are they posted? I went onto the AFM website and searched for minutes and didn't see anything.

Mainly wanted to read the discussions on racing in the rain.

Thank you

Minutes are very abbreviated
Did you attend the meeting last night?

If so, do you have a copy of these minutes, or have you seen them personally?

If so, albeit abbreviated, can you point them here for others that have an interest?

Even a high-level account of the discussions from last night is better than nothing. Thanks! :thumbup

No, but you can look at all of the minutes from past meetings on the AFM site, and all of them are lacking one common thing.... details of discussions ;)

For example

Whoever was creating those minutes sure did the maximum job of applying short-hand techniques to their note taking!

It'd be hard to have less content of any value, on what actually transpired during the meeting than that. :wow

Maybe Duh Ave (Dave Wallis, AFM Vice President) or some other BARFer/AFMer that was able to attend last night's meeting can give a quick Cliffs-Notes version of any discussions that occurred on the track usage under inclement conditions, and the costs/losses associated with last weekend's T-Hill event?

Anyone??

Eric Snyder used to bring a video camera and/or a mic to record the meetings for those who couldn't attend but I don't think he is doing it any more. Too bad.

I would say show up, I did :teeth

Oh and while you're there, volunteer to do a better job! :twofinger :laughing

And for some of you, you should learn how meetings are supposed to be run. It's not reality tv so you don't need all the chair throwing, cursing, and occassional body slam in the meeting notes. Just what was motioned, accepted or denied. :laughing

I know it's easy from the couch with the remote in the hand :teeth

I agree showing up is the preferred method, but since I live too far away, do you have any details on the rain racing thing?

I couldn't go last night, apologies. Needed to work. I have "cliff notes" from a phone conversation with another BoD member after the meeting. I'd rather not get hasty with them as I'm not sure how accurate my interpretation will be to actual proceedings.

Gary, I had the impression that you were there?
The meetings can move pretty fast. The minutes are not meant to be a line by line accounting of the meeting, but a summarization. It'd be impossible to type out even half of the conversations. Plus, most of them are pretty boring!

@ Rob-- have you signed up to join the members only section of the forum? The minutes are posted in a 'board communications" section that only club members have access to, but that access is not automatic; you have to request it (in case you didnt know).
The minutes are usually up within a few days. They have to be finalized and approved by the board for accuracy before posting.
My understanding on the rain discussion is that it can be entertained, but there is a more pressing matter to be dealt with. The rain policy doesn't need to be changed overnight and will take some time to get a full scope of the implications (ie: additional insurance costs, actual cost benefit analysis, etc, if any) before and real discussion can be had. So, I understand it's up for ideas, but it is only in the idea stage.

@ Dimitry; ya, it's a bummer.

The contact information for board members is located on the AFM web site. Have you considered calling one of them?

In all seriousness, Duh ave's information and interpretation was pretty good.

However, it would be nice to see more people sitting with Dos and I, as all of our input, suggestions, and recommendations, are based on expanding the 2-fiddy popcorn class. We have suggested a straight organic popcorn class, a cheese popcorn class, a butter class, and the best one, a carmel corn class which would take the place of Forumla Pacific because it is that good.
Another point was that despite how big a pipe you put on one, it will pass the decibel test at Laguna!:rofl

:nerd At the next meeting, I will buy the first 2 pitchers of beer for the non-board members who show up. Stipulation is it has to be more than 5 not counting Sarah, Dos and myself. And we get to bench race the previous weekends racing :thumbup I know my laptimes will have dropped by Wednesday, and my passes were faster and closer! So let's all get together and have your times drop too! :teeth

I would like to offer my services as some sort of recorder for the meeting if the board would allow it but at the same time I would post it here ane not the AFM forum and for obvious reasons.

I get that I have a big mouth but hardly ever put a foot forward for the club when it comes to showing up and doing something so here's my effort.

I would be willing to show up early enough to setup a camera and or listening device and then post it up without editing.

There's the offer now let's see what becomes of it.

That's not an offer, that's a post on an internet forum.

No, that's your spin on the honest offer I just put forward for other members, your just a hater and it is obvious in EVERY post you make towards me.

You have so much dislike for me and a negativity that comes out in almost every post you make, towards me or not.

Luckily the only thing I feel for you is, sadness (edit, and) sympathy for the obviously emptiness that fills your evey breath!!

Shawn, nothing would excite me more than for you to show up to the next meeting with a camera. Do you really think that posting on BARF is going to make it happen though? Until you put in the effort to talk to Chris V and the board about it, it's just a post on an internet forum.

Thank you for your sympathy. That means a lot coming from you.

Maybe I'm reading it wrong Jello but every time I post there seems to be a level of judgement, dislike and negativity. If I am reading to much into your posts then I appologize and withdrawl my last post!!!!

Honestly it seems like a good portion or people would rather me not be around at all. Ever since my return to the AFM I feel like an outsider looking in, hopefully just an emotional insecurity but there is good reason for some to not want me involved considering.

Since my return the above is the biggest reason for my choice not to join in on the meetings. If the board is up to allowing me to video the meetings it should be pretty simple with a couple contours or gopros. Where not looking for pro we're just looking for info, right.

I'll try to put my idea together a little better and if anyone has any ideas to share before I email the press please post up.

I was even thinking it might be a possiblity for people to sharw there ideas at a meeting through youtube by prerecording messages and then using a leptop to revirw them at the meeting?

Shawnery, the only problem I see with pre-recorded messages is, let's say it's a good idea and the board has some questions, the person submitting cannot discuss the suggestion to clarify, or perhaps, reword the suggestion to carry forward, or possibly have entered into a motion. If there is not that one person or a person who understands the suggestion to champion it, good or bad, if there's not someone to raise their hand to carry forward, it will be noted and forgotten.

The meetings can be very dynamic, they could also be very boring, but it needs more that 2 or 3 of us discusing issues and or presenting our thoughts on a agenda item.

Honestly, wouldn't it be pretty simple with a laptop and a meeting program just to do it live, seems simple enough since I do it with friends on a smaller scale?
